Create a new jurisdiction. A city within our city, like College Station, Texas or State College, Pa or College Park, Md. Then you can change the city tag. Moreover, you could create the ye old college suggestion that we are the first/best/oldest/largest or whatever, even if we are not. I like Collegiate Village, La.
I still read the La Louisiane magazine. 2 students who are friends of my daughter are highlighted in the most recent issue. That does not mean I like the exaggerated use of UL Lafayette. Cali, have you told the publishers that is the reason you no longer read their magazine?
And by the way, Turbine, this thread shows as "name matters" on the right, but still shows up when RAGE PAGE is clicked.
I would leave prohibited references blank or (if they followed the rest of your advise) say "anything besides what was listed is prohibited."
Mr. Martin saw "the prohibited" and instantly forgot everything acceptable, and because he couldn't get the prohibited out of his head came up with a double prohibited and no that doesn't make it a positive.
Jay,
A point of clarification, the league says that it will request that its media partners use it. So, my question is if the media partner's contract is with the league, would said media partner go against what the conference requests to appease an individual school?
They said that when you say "ULL" you do not pause between the Ls... but when you say "UL-L", you are supposed to pause between the two Ls. "It's different, but the same, in a different kind of way." The media guide was supposed to include an asterisk that stated "The proper way to pronounce "UL-L" is with a one second pause between the two Ls. If you pause shorter than one second, it sounds too much like "ULL". And if you pause more than one second, it sounds like you've added one or more extra hyphens. We are very adamant that you pause precisely one second between our beloved two Ls, or we will consider it disrespectful."
Y'know Tex, the more I think about this, the more I like it.
Create a new city tag that further defines the University campus area.
Kills ulala.
Kills all of the abbreviation nightmares with laf.
It is perfectly legal and wouldn't be that hard to do.
This is an exceptional idea.
