#2 - Related to #1 above, the article in the paper today quote Benson as saying that while we never signed off an anything, we didn't object either. He suggests that maybe an oversite someone from the university did not catch. Let's say that is true...how freaking incompetent is our leadership and the people entrusted. This whole battle about our name and what not to call us, and when the rough draft of the press release was sent out, no one from the school said a single thing?

#3 - We keep talking about what Joseph Savoie should do or should have done. That same article in the paper this morning, read the last sentence. Savoie has consistently declined any comment or to answer any questions. What kind of arrogant crap is that? Jay mentioned this on his show yesterday. The university, especially the leadership, for the past several months has refused to answer any questions whatsoever on this issue.

If I'm wrong, tell me I'm wrong, but this is what I truly believe right now.

My #4......T-Joe-L clearly knows they f'ed it up. I don't understand why the stubborness not to fix this asap. "SBC, please edit initials from UL-L to LA......thank you" done. Problem solved.

And spell it out as LOUISIANA Lafayette rather than UL Lafayette. I think Turbine would agree that is preferable

Why didn't they just put some random letters like LNA or LRC?

It seems to me you do anything. Just don't ever put ULL or UL-L or U-LL, etc.

This was perhaps the dumbest thing I have ever seen come out of Martin Hall.

The name change was, is, and always be an unmitigated disaster. It was never based in reality. It never had a chance to succeed. It was only done to please the Academic side. To this day, they see absolutely nothing wrong with the state of affairs.

I'm so freakin tired of defending this administration and explaining to people just who we are. When ignorant fans of other schools ridicule our name, is it even worth it anymore to answer them?

Congratulations T-Joe. You now have a defeated fanbase.
I don't think it's T-Joe's fault. He may have made a few missteps along the way (including this one) but he didn't start this mess, he inherited it.

    I do

Their time failed method comes across as University of Lafayette being abbreviated in advance of the rubber town name stamp.

LOUISIANA Lafayette would not allow for that concussion contusion confusion.

The University stated what their preference was and he rejected it.
This is the second time he's essentially thrown Someke from UL under the bus on the name issue. You're right, he knows our position and where we stand on it. He refuses to help us out.

And if they complain it is too long shorten it to Louisiana Lft. Again what stands out and stays in your memory?

Is this ____ that hard for our admin to grasp?

That guy is THE CHAMPION in this whole thing. He has remained true to the cause, even when the University has wavered. He is the biggest reason we're going to win this thing, because if he hadn't faithfully held firm all these years in his broadcasting of UL sporting events I don't think we would have made the progress we've made. Look at the uniforms, the end zones, the rings. We are winning, and Jay deserves a great deal of the credit. He is the right guy at the right time, and I have no doubt that when all is said and done he will go down as a Louisiana legend.

Couldn't agree more. Guess some things are personal.

He inherited the worlds slowest moving marketing train, yes it is an uphill battle, but by putting La Louisiane in charge of "athletic marketing" he put the train in reverse on a steep mountain.

Check out OU's branding procedures www.ou.edu/brand.html
    I had the same thought.

I agree with Jay. LA would have been the best choice as a two letter designation.
