The A would stand for Alexandria just like the M for MoanROW, and the L for Lafayette.
The university knows exactly what it wants, the state keeps throwing up roadblocks. Sometimes we hit the damned things.

One more note, let's hope the Cajun basketball team does well in the conference tournament. If we are lucky enough to be in the finals it would be great if our fan base had a multitude of signs simply saying University of Louisiana or just Louisiana. We would need to have enough so as the ESPN cameras could not miss them. Now the university may not feel it is legal to help with the distribution of those but they would likely not object to fans taking the lead on the effort. Anyone have printing connections were they could work to making that happen?
Mike that will be seen, but unseen by the TV audience. Not going to make a blip on anything. What fans signs say do not register for more than the amount of time it takes to read the damned signs. I like the idea though for a different reason than I think you are suggesting.
Jay for President(of the University that is) or AD when Farmer is fired later this year!!
The conference officials and likely fans of the other schools in the league would see the signs and get the message. Of course the basketball team would have to make the finals for that to occur. That would mean playing better on the road than we have the last couple of games in order to garner a good seed.
Yes get it done! Change the area around the University to Acadia so we can use ULA to be in compliance with this bull$xxx law. We would have to turn all the Lafayette's to Acadia. We would have to get the state to approve it, but it would show our resolve on this issue.
#1 - Over the past 15 years, there has been so much made about what NOT to call us, that whatever happened with that release from the Sun Belt, in my opinion, has done little more than make it look like even we (the University) have no idea what to call ourselves. It's a damn circus.
#2 - Related to #1 above, the article in the paper today quote Benson as saying that while we never signed off an anything, we didn't object either. He suggests that maybe an oversite someone from the university did not catch. Let's say that is true...how freaking incompetent is our leadership and the people entrusted. This whole battle about our name and what not to call us, and when the rough draft of the press release was sent out, no one from the school said a single thing?
#3 - We keep talking about what Joseph Savoie should do or should have done. That same article in the paper this morning, read the last sentence. Savoie has consistently declined any comment or to answer any questions. What kind of arrogant crap is that? Jay mentioned this on his show yesterday. The university, especially the leadership, for the past several months has refused to answer any questions whatsoever on this issue.
If I'm wrong, tell me I'm wrong, but this is what I truly believe right now.
I get that Mike, see it and what, or so what more likely?
Thanks for the great read Jay. You have fought this name battle for a long time. We will not go away until we get our "Louisiana" abbreviated either "LA" or "LU" that is the answer.
Knowing that we cannot use simply UL only. Nothing against using Louisiana, LA, or LU.
It would have been so simple to ask the fan base or members of RCAF before going public with the final versions.
Just one thing: You need to update your Logo on the article.
We have dropped the " 's " off of the logo.
The conference officials and fans of other schools know exactly ehat we want to be called, they just won't do it. Everyone has made such a big deal about it and been so in your face about it, they do the opposite on purpose. The university screwed this up, Louisiana was gaining some traction but the university just reloaded all the detractors ammo.
There is nothing T-Joe can say to fix this. By saying nothing, it's an attempt to not do further financial damage. Others outside our fan base were at the controls when Cajun Nation was thrown under the bus over in 84. Thirty years later, it seems the bus driver comes from within our family, and that is what is so horrid about this. This is the main issue.
Secondly, we, as a group, I agree, did not stay to the message and got off base. Tabby, for example, is only 2014's version of 1984's Jim Beam, writer for the American Press. She might be a lot of things which we may or may not know, but dropping to the level someone on this site did to call her a name with the adjective "cancerous", given her health history crossed the line. We are collectively better than that. If you wanted to call her the cut and paste queen, that would have been more appropriate.
Going toward, continue to say it, wear it, University of Louisiana...no debates, no in your face, just remain true to the message.
