If they needed a three letter abbreviation, why not LOU.

Well because when Louisville is not UL,or U of L, they are LOU on ESPN. We know how much ESPN hates to infringe on Louisville. Also Louisiana College is occasionally on the bottom line ticker, and they ARE LOUISIANA.

A local vendor needs to make some t-shirts with this mantra. Would make appropriate apparel to wear at the big televised basketball game against WKU

I told my wife I wanted to get a shirt that reads, " Suck my Hyphen" for WKU game, but I can't attend game do to business trip. That in itself ____es me off, if I could cancel trip I would.

Amen, Brother! You NEVER tell them what not to call us. This has been our problem all along. It is NEVER simply call us LOUISIANA athletically. It is always what not to call us. And to ask them to put an * by UL-L is even more unbelievable. We already asked NOT to be referred to as ULL, then give them the UL-L option. And we ask them to "include" Louisiana as a reference. How many reference options are we giving them. Pick and choose the one you like best? This explanation only makes this worse, because we can see exactly why we are in this mess and will not be able to get out of it. We can come out today and say we want to be known exclusively as Louisiana. Too f'ing late! The damage is done. Thank you Aaron-Martin Hall for completely ruining any chance we ever had of being known as LOUISIANA. I am embarrassed and disgusted to be an alumnus of this university.

I've been beating this drum for months now. That group in Communication and Marketing and the inept work done to further the name brand has been at the root of this issue for a long time. And you're right, never a word about what not to call the school as well as putting out the various school initial names like its an F'n cafeteria is a useless attempt to become politically correct in trying to please anyone and everyone not connected with the school or the athletic programs.

This is what happens when people who think and pretend to know what they're doing in the full scope and impact of a major issue fail to realize they are accountable for the mistakes they make and the far reaching impact it has.
What a mess...All of the network media work should have been handled directly to numerous major outlets to explain and preview what the conference was getting ready to issue. It could have been done under the guise of a "tweek" to the academic and journalistic usage and a reminder that athletically nothing changes. That and what was being issued was not required usage. Send lawyers, guns, and money!

Well now we have a novel, unique NEW idea. It has been time for about a decade, but who cares, T-Jo and Farmer love it here where they can be big players. Oh, forgot they cannot even hold serve on the name thing.

Ah.....you may want to revise that last line. I don't think you have anyone's support....And to rely on anyone reading a footnote is just stupid.

In summary, we had everything going for us: Fox, NBC and CBS were honoring our wishes to be branded UL. The only holdout was ESPN, which basically said they would call us what the Sun Belt called us. Then the Sun Belt asked us what to be branded with 2-4 letters. Then we come up with UL-L? It was set up on the tee for us and the administration swung and missed. Everyone together now say UL-L and then ULL. Sounds the same doesn't it? Now the networks that were with us saw the UL-L memo and ran with it. Decades of work down the drain with a few words.

This guy gets it!! If Louisiana is what we're striving for then why on earth did we go and complicate it with some new stupid abbreviation? It didn't matter, yet now this administration has made it matter. Way too much focus on all the things that don't matter and not enough on the long list of things that matter and probably won't ever happen.
