Thread: Saints VS Seahawks

I agree the outcome likely flips if the game is played in New Orleans and maybe even on a neutral field with good weather. However the Seahawks earned the right to play at home due to a more consistent regular season. Overall this season they were the better team and deserve to play in the conference championship game. The Saints do need to improve in one area defensively and that is in forcing turnovers. They were very poor at that in the 2nd half of the year.

Anyone getting down on the Saints is kind of silly. I can't get over listening to former NFL football players and how dumb they often approach analyzing these post season games. We're seeing the best taking the other best's best stuff. They act as if x didn't perform up to his standards... without any consideration of the opponent play. Most contests come down to match ups... and in this case "conditions" also played a factor. We are dependent on our passing game and Brees couldn't throw a wet ball in the first half. And a super secondary took away his mojo.

Outside of being bummed about the loss, I was extremely impressed with the Saints defense under Ryan. You can't say we didn't contain Wilson... perhaps as well as any defense can. And again, I'm extremely impressed with the Seahawks defensive secondary and of course, Lynch. That is a very solid team. If you play that game in the Dome, however, the outcome flips IMO.
I don't think the Saints defense played that well. The Seahawks play calling helped keep the Saints in the game. Lynch ran all over them. They didn't sack Wilson once. Seattle did not put the ball down the field at all. Darrell Bevell and his schizophrenic play calling especially in the red zone made that a game.

    3 sacks, Hawk.

Even during the game, announcers were talking about the Saints kept Wilson in the pocket.

I guess I was just equally as unimpressed with Wilson. He needs to play way better if you want to continue to win.

---I just texted my buddy the QB coach for the Hawks and told him great calls on the pass and the run---the 3rd and long pass was the difference!!!

I wish he would make the calls over Darrell Bevell. Some of his calls make me lose my mind

As a Saints fan, trust me: you do NOT want Carl Smith calling the plays.

    (No offense, Boom.)

Up 23 to 8...on first down with 2:48 left...what does Mr Bevell call. A play action pass? My god. Hopefully the good Bevell shows up next week.

The Seahawks never had the ball again after they went up 23-8. It was 16-8 and the drive you are referencing ended up with 7 set up by the nice 3rd and 3 pass to Baldwin. The play calling was not all that bad.
