There is no question that we have made contact with the AAC...right now I do not know what their level of interest in UL would be and I do not think the AAC is expanding.....we need to stay in touch with that Conference because if the Big XII expands Cincinnati and Memphis will definitely be on the radar.....who knows, maybe even UCF and USF.....either way we must continue to grow and prepare....and win...
CUSA is not the conference it once was. With minor players like LA Tech now a member, it's probably at the same level as the Belt before its teams bolted for .....CUSA. With Holtz there, I doubt they will up the level very much.
YAHOO's EXACT listing for the Sun Belt Conference
Louisiana 5-2 9-4
Arkansas State 5-2 8-5
Troy 4-3 6-6
South Alabama 4-3 6-6
Western Kentucky CUSA BOUND 4-3 8-4
Louisiana-Monroe 4-3 6-6
Texas State 2-5 6-6
Georgia State 0-7 0-12
You have to remember when all the conference shuffling was going on we had no master plan and our budget was still smaller than every other school besides ULM. Things are different now.
The question posed to me was what did Tech have that was better than what we had so I answered it. Their budget was bigger, they had a stronger athletic foundation, they had better football facilities (not by much, but still better,) their football program was better, plans drawn up for facility enhancements, plans to increase the budget. Am I saying they were head and shoulders ahead of us? Of course not. Am I saying they are still ahead of us today? No, not anymore. We've come a long way in 2 years. But back then, if you compared our apples to their apples and our oranges to their oranges, theirs were a little bit better. That's all I'm saying.
All this "smoke & mirrors" talk makes me LMFAO! Haven't heard it in awhile but it truly makes my day. Sounds like CUSA isn't even a good enough "stepping stone" for Cajuns anymore. You sure Tulane would like being y'all's conference mate?
Probably not since we beat their _____ the last two times we have played them and have another 3 or 4 victories over them in the modern era. They will probably be sad to loose LTUR as a conference mate when they move to the AAC since the Bulldogs have never posted a victory over them and just continue to be their biatch!
