The Cajuns offense gave starting pitcher Ashley Brignac two runs in the first inning of their third game with South Alabama at Lamson Park Sunday afternoon.

And even though they would add six more, that would be all Brignac needed as she held the Jaguars scoreless, striking out seven and improving her record to 17-6 with an 8-0 win. The victory sets up a crucial series with Florida International on Wednesday.

"All I've heard is that they are good. You have to go into every series thinking that the team you are playing is good," Brignac said. "Yesterday, things just didn't go my way. I refocused and came out and went right after them (batters)."
