Robe can say what he wants until is blue in the face, but reality is with the new format of the Regionals, Supers and a 3 game series in the finals of the CWS pitching may get you to the Supers but it wont win it for you. Not with aluminum bats. Robe's style is not condusive for the new style of college baseball. I think he is a great coach and if NCAA went to wooden bats his style would be perfect but its not going to happen.

I believe that he is the guy we need to run the program but he needs to adjust his coaching style in order to get us to the next level. _
Hello? Have you even bothered to look at the CWS the last six years? Virtually every team who got to the CWS and did something had one thing in common....they could all really PITCH.

During the 90's and early '00, you had to hit more than pitch. But now, you really have to pitch.

The most amazing stat. for the year was - I believe we did not give up more than 9 runs until the final game of the CWS.

I agree. I also think that it is going to be much tougher to get a lot of quality pitchers on your staff due to the new scholarship restrictions, transfer restrictions and 5 games per week. Not to mention the fact that most major schools are now realizing that college baseball is a money maker so they are pooring huge money into recruiting and facilities which, in my opinion, will dilute the pitching talent. By doing so, I think we will see a trend towards recuriting for hitters as opposed to pitchers because you are going to see games in like we are seeing this year where the scores of both teams are in the double digits.
