MONROE, La. - Louisiana Lady Cajuns tennis team easily defeated in-state and conference opponent Louisiana-Monroe 6-1 Saturday. The Cajuns improved to 14-5, while the Warhawks fell to 8-12.

In singles play, Louisiana picked up five matches, winning at Nos. 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5. Freshman Julie Mazinova bested Noelia Leon 6-1, 6-4 at No. 1, while sophomore Myrthe Molenveld defeated Lena Satge 6-2, 6-2 at No. 2.

Freshman Kim van der Horst contributed to the Lady Cajuns’ victory with her 6-4, 6-2 win over Ana Burjaili at No. 3. Junior Angela Dangond defeated Giovanna Arrondo 6-4, 6-2 at No. 4, and freshman Mia Gordon bested Marion Lehmann 6-3, 6-2 at No. 5.

The Cajuns swept ULM in doubles competition. Freshman Briggitt Marcovich and van der Horst defeated Leon and Sharon Makhanya 8-3 at No. 2. Molenveld and Dangond topped Lehmann and Arrondo 8-2 at No. 2, and Mazinova and Gordon defeated Satge and Burjaili 8-3 at No. 3.
