How do you know Turbine? They have been negotiating since we finished the bowl game or at least the week after. This was likely before Franklin got the head job at Penn St. Now that he is on the short list somewhere bigger, whatever we have drafted or discussed with him is likely insignificant now as we will have to go to the well to deliver a package that will even compete with Vandy
No way HUD signs anything before waiting till all this shakes out. Farmer has made some mistakes, but unless he can offer HUD three million a year and a chance to coach in a bigger conference, HUD wasn't signing anything till he knew all options. HUD has all the leverage right now.
I can tell you what HUD won't sign...a contract extension that doesn't exist. That's a fact, you can all argue if he would or wouldn't sign it. Without one, he has no chance of signing it. This should have already been done. We should have had 3 options of extension for him to read and decide from. If we get him to sign this one, start working in terms of the next one. It's just paper.
Guys -
Some of you think that the University can simply mandate whatever the hell type of buyout we want. It takes two parties to sign a contract the University and Hud. Maybe something Hud really wants is to have a lower buyout so that he is more likely to get another job. I'm not saying that is what is going on. And, I hate to be an admin apologist. But, we can't simply put whatever the hell we want in the contract.
If I was Hud I wouldn't sign anything before knowing all my options.
If I was UL I would make sure any signing option he has includes my offer, in advance.
well, i don't think hud gonna leave.. He gonna parlay this into more $$$$$ but this is a warm up for next year where i fully expect him to leave. we just need to be prepared for a replacement quick. if im wrong and he leaves this year we are simply screwed. less than 1 month until signing day.
