Thread: HUD and Vandy

Anyone worth their salt would not sign a contract extension before they knew their worth. If Hud goes to the convention...and interviews with Vandy he can come back and say...Scott...this is what Vandy is offering...can you match it? Anyone in that situation would do the same. I know I have. I don't think Hud actually wants to go to Vandy. That is a hard place to win. It's not a given. But...Franklin did it...so it's not out of the realm of possibility that Hud could replicate Franklin's success. Really people let's be pragmatic here and realize that Hud wouldn't do an extension without interviewing elsewhere first.

Irrelevant. There is nothing to sign.

The ball has to be on the coach's court, no perception of Reinhardt dribbling allowed.

If Hud leaves he will be the first head coach in school history to ever become a college head coach again. Not the desired outcome to be sure, but nonetheless a sign of progress.

I'm no Farmer apologist...but I'm not blinded enough to think that Hud would sign an extension before he knew his value.

I understand that many here hate the AD and, even to a certain degree, the president of our university but this is correct. To think that Hud will sign an extension and raise without testing the proverbial job waters is just not logical.

How do you know Turbine? They have been negotiating since we finished the bowl game or at least the week after. This was likely before Franklin got the head job at Penn St. Now that he is on the short list somewhere bigger, whatever we have drafted or discussed with him is likely insignificant now as we will have to go to the well to deliver a package that will even compete with Vandy

No way HUD signs anything before waiting till all this shakes out. Farmer has made some mistakes, but unless he can offer HUD three million a year and a chance to coach in a bigger conference, HUD wasn't signing anything till he knew all options. HUD has all the leverage right now.

Offer vs no offer. Who wins?

I can tell you what HUD won't sign...a contract extension that doesn't exist. That's a fact, you can all argue if he would or wouldn't sign it. Without one, he has no chance of signing it. This should have already been done. We should have had 3 options of extension for him to read and decide from. If we get him to sign this one, start working in terms of the next one. It's just paper.
