Windows XP, one of the most popular OS of all time is going to expire literally as Microsoft is ending their extended support for the OS in April this year. Microsoft has been trumpeting for the last few years to make Windows XP users upgrade to newer systems. Using Windows XP system nowadays exposes you to lots of security risks and even more when Microsoft stops delivering security updates for Windows XP. Ars Technica recently revealed that Microsoft will also stop delivering virus definitions to Windows XP users running Microsoft Security Essentials. There are three months to go for Windows XP. The ancient operating system is leaving extended support on April 8, at which point Microsoft will no longer ship free security fixes. XP itself isn’t the only thing that’s losing support on that date. The Windows XP version of Microsoft Security Essentials, the company’s anti-malware app, will stop receiving signature updates on that date and will also be removed for download.
