Here's the beauty of baseball:
You're 6-12 after 18 games, preseason hype and rankings have proven pure fiction, you've just been punked 17-6 by Rice and outscored 111-69 overall - and then win 11 of the next 14.
Go figure.
"It's a humbling game, but that's baseball," UL senior outfielder Nolan Gisclair said. "One day you're 4-for-4 and the best hitter going, and the next you're 0-for-4 with four strikeouts.
"A lot of people talk about the baseball gods and it's true - when you think you've got it figured out, they'll put you in your place. All you can really do is just play. Trying to think your way through this game is impossible."
Which is a perfect segway to the Cajuns' 12-10 win over UL Monroe on Friday night at The Tigue.
