Again, I want Hud to stay but if he leaves for what he believes is a better opportunity for him and his family it will be up to us fans to show potential hires that we will still support the program both in spirit and financially. That is what will attract quality candidates. It will then be up to our admin to make the right hire to succeed Hud and keep the success and momentum going.
Yep, at some point in the near future we will part ways. I hate to see him go but he has done more for this university in three short years than any other coach. In the long run, it will be best for Hud (More money) and hopefully for us (We get another good young hungry coach).

Did high freeze have a signature win? How about Malzhan? Todd berry has a signature win why doesn't he have a bigger job yet?

People make to much out of signature wins. When these schools go to hire a coach they know the limitations that have at the non AQ schools. Do they look better on the resume of course but it's not the deal breaker a lot of people think it is.

I think signature wins are overrated in Hud's case. He took a program with no tradition, no resources and awful facilities and has won 9 games a year, 3 bowl wins. He has shown he can recruit even with all of these obstacles including being in the worst conference in America. His winning percentage as a head coach is very impressive. He has SEC experience. A prospective program such as Louisville would have to ask what he could with resources, facilities, and recruiting to the ACC.

  4. Default Louisville coaching search: 10 names to know as the Cardinals replace Charlie Strong

Here is all that Hudspeth has done as a head coach: in seven seasons at North Alabama, he won 66 games and made five appearances in the Division II playoffs. He has gone 9-4 in each of three seasons at UL Lafayette, and won the New Orleans Bowl three straight times. His Ragin' Cajuns tied for the Sun Belt title this year.

He has not posted a losing record since 2002. He has recorded nine wins or more in eight of his 10 seasons as a head coach. If the coaching carousel had spun at its usual speed this year, Hudspeth would probably be going somewhere else.

There is a double-edged quality to Hudspeth's background, though. He is a product of the deep South. He was born in Louisiana and played college football at Delta State. Aside from a one-year stint as the offensive coordinator at Navy, the furthest north that Hudspeth has ventured are two brief stints at Central Arkansas. While he has no ACC experience, Hudspeth would bring 20 years worth of recruiting contacts in Lousiana, Alabama, and Mississippi, some of the nation's most fertile recruiting territory.

He would also bring his offense, built in his time at North Alabama and as an assistant to Dan Mullen at Mississippi State. Hudspeth is probably not a perfect fit for the particular issues related to Louisville football, but he'd be a fine choice nonetheless.

True, and we do that; but obsessing over football is just WAY too good to stop just because the season is over. lol

Sometimes it's all about the timing.

HUD will have his best Ragin' Cajuns team next year. It's the team he'll tell you he's been building toward.

Don't think that won't make a difference if there is, in fact, an interest.
