LAFAYETTE, La. – The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns women's soccer program has been awarded the NSCAA college Team Ethics & Sportsmanship Silver award for the 2013 season. The silver award was given to teams who accumulated no more than five yellow cards throughout the season, and no red cards during the season.
The Cajuns finished the year with just four cautions, the second-fewest in the Sun Belt, but were the only team to not be issued a red card. They finished the year with a league-low 106 fouls, averaging 5.89 per game.
The Cajuns were one of 159 teams among all men's and women's collegiate soccer of all levels and leagues.
To win the Gold Award, a team needed to go the entire season without a caution or ejection, a feat achieved by only 26 teams in NCAA soccer.
A bronze award was given to teams who had between 6-10 yellow cards and no ejections.
After going 8-7-3 and finishing tied for second in the Sun Belt Conference, the Ragin' Cajuns will return ten starters from 2013, including all-Sun Belt selections Grace Howell-Harries, Yazmin Montoya and Annika Schmidt.
