UL - No. 18 Louisiana returns home to the friendly confines of Alfred and Helen Lamson Softball Park for a solo game with in-state rival McNeese State.

The Lady Cajuns softball team enters the week ranked No. 18 in the NFCA’s softball poll. The Cajuns broke into the rankings in the preseason poll at No. 24 after finishing the 2007 season unranked. The Cajuns are also ranked according to the ESPN.com/USA Softball Collegiate Top 25 Poll (No. 21).

UL returns to Alfred and Helen Lamson Softball Park for the next 10 games (excludes exhibition with Team USA in Sulphur, La. on Apr. 19). The Cajuns enter the stretch run 10-0 at home this season, claiming four wins in the 2008 Louisiana Classics Tournament and doubleheader sweeps of Nicholls State, IUPUI and Grambling.

Brooke Brodhead (Lafayette, La.) will once again square off against her former squad in the McNeese State Cowgirls. The Cajuns and Cowgirls met in Lake Charles earlier this season on Feb. 20, as UL claimed a mercy-rule victory, 12-0. Brodhead had a solid game in her return to Lake Charles. The senior transfer finished the game 1-for-3 with a home run, two RBI, a run scored and a walk.

Co-head coach Stefni Lotief entered her eighth season at the helm of the Cajuns’ softball program. Stefni Lotief has 382 career victories, just 18 wins shy of 400 for her career, while co-head coach Michael Lotief has 281 victories, 19 shy of 300 career wins.
