Thread: Moody goes for wins record tonight

  1. UL Baseball CHICK-FIL-A night at THE TIGUE

UL - Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns baseball's Sun Belt Conference series opener with the Florida International Golden Panthers will serve as "Chick-fil-A Night" Friday at M.L. "Tigue" Moore Field.

The Chick-fil-A Cow will make a special guest appearance during Friday night's game.

The first 500 kids ages 14 and under will receive a free baseball as they enter the park. First pitch is slated for 6:30 p.m.

  2. UL Baseball Moody goes for wins record tonight

With a rare opening in his schedule, Tony Robichaux made the short drive up I-10 to Brusly on a hot summer night in 2003 to watch son Justin play a summer-league baseball game.

Going to the game ended up being a good move in more ways than one for UL's baseball coach. Robichaux not only got to see his son play, but he also uncovered a hidden gem in left-handed pitcher Hunter Moody, who struck out 16 batters for the opposing team.

"When I got there a big lefty came out on the mound and struck out the side," Robichaux said of Moody, who had recently completed his junior year at the Silliman Institute in Clinton. "I got down from the bleachers and tried to get a better look at him.

Awesome story. What a great kid. We sure have had some great ones here. That's probably the thing I like about Coach Robe more than anything, the fact that he brings quality young men to the program.

Congrats Hunter (and Mr. and Mrs. Moody), and thanks for being a Ragin Cajun.

I got one last year, I talked the guy into it. I told him I was a kid at heart.

Well now that I ACTUALLY have a kid, I can probably get a bunch of UL stuff. Even if he is a few days old.
