In a season filled with plenty of lows, UL's baseball team experienced a huge high last weekend. The preseason Sun Belt Conference favorite Ragin' Cajuns swept three games on the road against Arkansas-Little Rock, clinching its first conference sweep of the year.
UL, which had struggled when playing from behind all year, rallied in the final two games to win in thrilling fashion.
"We finally did everything we needed to do to win," UL coach Tony Robichaux said. "The last thing we need to get is a more consistent effort from our bullpen."
The Cajun bullpen was strong against UALR, giving up one run on three hits in 7.1 total innings. UL relievers gave up no runs and no hits in 3.1 innings in the first two games.
Fresh from last week's sweep, the Cajuns (9-12 overall) play Northwestern State (13-9) at 6:30 tonight at Brown-Stroud Field in Natchitoches. UL leads the all-time series, 69-45, but has lost five of its last seven to the Demons.
