Convince Lafayette to change it's name to Louisiana. Or annex a small six square miles of Lafayette and name it Louisiana, much like New York, New York. We would then be UL@Louisiana. LOL

There are thousands of quirky things done to fit within a law, so this would be nothing new really. I vote Turbine as our first mayor, and Fun to head the department of propaganda.

Of course T would be the superintendent of sewage and water keeping out all the Bu!!sh!#ters

Pretty sure we cannot by law be anything other than what we are NOW. Last time I checked Acadiana is not the city UL is located in.

I'm not taking sides in the idea, I'm still enjoying the free publicity UL is getting from the current name battle. ...

But and however, unless the law has been tweaked, altered or subverted, it never said city. It said "geographic location" and it could be strongly argued that Acadiana is a geo centric location.

D. All uses of the name "University of Louisiana" must be followed by the word "at" and the institution's geographic location. No typographic variations within the name are permitted. The word "at" must be no less than 50% and the geographic location must not exceed 100% nor be less than 80% of the University of Louisiana name. Any institutional use of "University of Louisiana" without the "at" and geographic location is prohibited.

Then by all means as a last resort go for Acadiana. We have to realize if we do that, then we will forever be ULA or ACADIANA for short, and complaining about not being able to be called Louisiana will be seen as sour grapes.
