Thread: Another year under HUD

  1. #1

    Default Another year under HUD

Unless the Texas job causes a chain reaction affecting HUD,he's at UL another 12 months. What are the expectations? Are we buried in the Sunbelt throughout his tenure? I believe that given the recruiting limitations of this low tier conference, things are as good as they are going to get . UL won't attract the athlete we need until somebody steps up and saves us from the sunbelt. Schools like K-State and Arkansas, who we are disappointed to lose to, have had 50+ years of better recruiting classes.
What is being done to keep the train running ? Is HUD going to get an outpouring of support, or will things remain the same? He's won 27 games and 3 bowl games and the facility looks the same as the bustle years. When will the facility improvements begin? Is there urgency within the administration? What's the operating budget looking like? Will he be able to afford the best assistants? Can we keep coach Johnson?
    Where are the bulldozers??
It would be nice, before signing day, for recruits to know we aren't just blowing smoke.

It is not the Texas Job that we should be looking at but the Penn St Job. If & when Coach O'Brein takes a NFL Job then you will start seeing things unfold, The reason I said that is because Dan Mullen once consider Penn St. When Coach O'Brein leaves Coach Mullen will be up for the job because he is on the Hot seat at Miss St, Trust me the MSU fans really want Coach Hud the newspaper put an article a while back.Who ever get the Texas job is up in the air but will open up doors Baylor job can become open if Art becomes the new coach at Texas the effect won't happen until Black Monday for NFL coaches

    A) the facilities plan needs to start moving forward, but they in no way favor what they looked like a few years ago. Anyone who's been around the program at all knows this.
    B) Hud and staff have the best recruiting class coming in by far that they've ever had and that's with Elijah McGuire in tow.
    C) I don't believe for one minute that Hud would take a dead end job just to be in the SEC for a minute. So quit rying to sell me on Miss. St.
    D) I agree with any other concerns as being legitimate in nature.

I agree on the Miss StAte job, but everything we hear is that the miss state job is his dream job, not much of a dream if you ask me, they will always be a bottom feeder in the SEC

    Huds kids are in MIssissippi.
Miss St. Will pay 2.5X to 3X what he makes at UL.
The extra dough + an SEC job and he will bounce.

If Miss St offers, he's gone. Quit being stubborn Kyle. It's a step up, and he'd be stupid not to take it. We all know this.

    1. It depends on the length of his tenure and when the next movement is.
    2. You may be right on that score, but there are other factors that recruits look at that may be more important to them than the perception of the conference.
    3. You may also be right on that one, but other factors can play a role.
    4. So what?
    5. Money
    6. You apparently haven't kept track of the support he's been getting because the entire staff has seen significant raises each year.
    7. The master plan was rolled out in May, with a timetable of when things would get started. Most things have progressed according to the timetable.
    8. The contract signings are just days away, then the work will begin.
    9. Yes
    10. Growing
    11. No. We still can't financially compete with the BCS/P5/whatever you want to call them schools.
    12. Maybe
    13. At the yard, waiting for the contracts to be signed.
    14. Recruits were shown the master plan when they were recruited last year, new recruits are being shown the plans and they will be able to see the work being done on the facilities before signing day this season.

I have Mississippi State friends who would love to have Hud . I also think Starkville would be hard to win a national championship and even there if ya do not win soon they will have the door open for anyone.
I love Hud but he is not the total of the Cajun Nation. He built it up to where we now will have to move forward on our own ,no matter the coach .

ps- Hope he stays a while though :>)

I call BS on 7 and 9. There is absolutely NO timetable included in the Master Plan, and there is very little evidence that the Administration feels any sense of urgency at all about getting timetables in place or completing any phase of the Master Plan.

To take this a step further. How many of you guys had that "dream girl" you always wanted to date in high school? Then you grew up and she ballooned out to 250+ or got hooked on crack and went down to 90 pounds. Either way you realized your adolescent dream was a grown up nightmare. Well fellas. I just described Mississippi State to you.
