Thread: More than a Bowl

We started talking about who would be MVP as the end drew near. No one in our group could come up,with a definitive answer. I think Orleans won by default and I don't have a problem with it. UL won the game and it was a close outcome. Eli was a great tackle by Schofield at the end on 3rd down from winning it. I did not boo the pick and neither did most people around me although I did hear some.

If it is close the winning team usually gets the MVP, now when Papo Ramos took the MVP of the LSU invitational regional in Baton Rouge, he was clearly the most outstanding player in that series. The TooLame kid was not outstanding if any of those runs is not a touchdown. Only one of the runs was special IMO, huge holes on two, one very much outstanding on him.

The problem is Dan wants to blame the fans as though they were booing the kid, when they were booing HIM, and any of the media that made this error. That is my problem, Dan not recognizing who was getting booed, even if he was not one of the voters he represents since he is making an issue of it.

Early and most of the Twentieth Century goes to Tulane.

So far the 21st Century goes to Louisiana

If darkwa doesn't rush for 3 tds, Tulane still loses.

If McGuire doesn't have 100+ total yards and a TD, we don't win.

McGuire was the most valuable player. If not him then TB. Or Cadona. Or Stover. Certainly not a RB from the losing team that didn't even rush for 100. What a joke.

The numerous personal fouls, several offsetting, indicated these teams might dislike each other.

Tulane Head Coach Curtis Johnson’s post game comment about last year’s 41-13 loss to the Cajuns and that “we are gaining on them” implies the Cajuns are a standard of achievement for Tulane. And with the overall series record at 21-6 in the Wave’s favor, UL has a lot of ground to make up. Cajun oral legend has Tulane refusing to play UL in the late 1990s even if every game was played in the Dome. Supposedly, the Cajun program was beneath Tulane’s. Whether the legend is true, both programs are now close to dead even and on their way up. The two schools have enough similarities and differences to make for an exciting, intense rivalry.

It’s time to make UL vs. Tulane happen every year.

Didn't the cajuns spank Tulane 48-6 in the game that immediately followed Tulane's decision to no longer play cajuns because the program was beneath tulane in their opinion? If my memory is correct, that was the final game against tulane until last year and this year, so it's 3-0 since the 90s. There was a great game in the dome between these two teams in the late 80s where tulane won with a score around 42-40 and there was a decent crowd there. Brian Mitchell was there and I think it was the NCAA all time record for most rushing yards in a losing effort. That was a great game and both programs would greatly benefit if there were more games like that in a renewed rivalry. Seems like back then tulane wanted out of the series because suddenly the cajuns were competitive against them and that was not supposed to happen in their minds.

Amen brother. Is it just me, or are any of the rest of you tired of getting talked down to, as fans, by some of our local media demigods?

When I heard the announcement of the Tulane kid for MVP, the first thought I had was couldn't they have picked a guy from the winning team? Then I thought who would it be? Broadway for playing with a broken pinned up arm? Justin Anderson for making a hundred tackles? Stover for coming up big time in his first real duty as Field goal kicker? McGuire who was obviously the best athlete on the field? Corey Trim with maybe the biggest play of the game? Harris who played his tail off? Andre Huval who led a stellar performance by the offensive line? That thing could have been split 30 different ways on the UL side. In the end I'm glad no UL player got it although I think they all earned it. It was truly a team win, and to me giving an MVP to just one guy wouldn't have been right in this case.

Yeh it gets a little boring. There's nothing like having mindless koolaid drinkers, who just spent the last twenty years in a drunken stuper as the last set of "leaders" ran the program into the mud, also function as the thought police for the masses.
