Thread: Holes to fill in secondary for Ragin' Cajuns

  1. UL Football Holes to fill in secondary for Ragin' Cajuns

This much UL football fans know: The Cajuns will have a new look in the defensive secondary next fall.

Jarrett Jones, Torres Kingsby and Kyle Ward - all of whom started games at cornerback last year - have exhausted their eligibility. Ditto for strong safety Lamar Morgan.

Now the Cajuns are left to fill those holes and improve on a 3-9 season.

"It's tough any time you lose guys who have played because those guys have been around the game," cornerbacks coach Hurlie Brown said. "You lose a lot of experience and a lot of knowledge."

Wow. We have this "we are young" thing down to a science. Last year all we heard is that the young guys were taking their licks to learn the system. Now it turns out the secondary was laden with seniors and we will be young again! Seriously, the secondary was so weak last year I doubt any of the losses in personel will be noticed.

    WTF?

All we heard last season was how much the secondary would struggle due to all of the young guys we were playing back there.

    This is getting ridiculous.

I know stats tend to lie and do not tell the whole story but we were 43 in the nation against the pass last year. The pass defense is not why we were terrible on the defense. If our front seven could find a way to get pressure on the QB and stop the run then we will be very hard to beat. 2 guys from last years secondary will find a place in the NFL or CFL (Ward, Morgan).
