Going into spring football practice, UL safeties coach Tim Rebowe expected a few surprises.
One thing that has not been a surprise: The ongoing leadership provided by senior linebacker Antwyne Zanders.
"He's the vocal leader of the group, and that's not to take away from what he does by his actions," said Rebowe, who has been working this spring with the linebackers. "He's a take-charge guy. He gets guys pumped up.
"He's always in the film room and trying to get better. Leading by example like that rubs off on the other guys."
Last year, Zanders stood out on the field. Although the Cajuns struggled at times defensively, the Kentwood native logged a team-high 93 tackles - the most by a UL player since 2004.
