TROY, Ala.-Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajuns women’s tennis team continued their winning ways on Sunday with a 4-3 victory over Sun Belt Conference opponent Troy at Cajuns Courts.
Louisiana (10-4) split with Troy in singles, collecting three of the six matches.
Picking up wins for the Cajuns were freshman Julie Mazinova, sophomore Myrthe Molenveld and freshman Briggitt Marcovich. Mazinova topped Rawia Elsisi 5-7, 6-1, 7-5 at No. 1, while Molenveld bested MirteDeBakker 6-1, 6-0 at No. 3. Marcovich defeated Caroline Jovanin 6-1, 6-4 at No. 5.
In doubles action, the Cajuns picked up the point after winning at Nos. 2 and 3. Junior Angela Dangond and Molenveld defeated DeBakker and Leonie Guijt 8-3 at No. 2m, and Mazinova and partner freshman Mia Gordon bested Jovanin 8-6 at No. 3.
The Cajuns will be back in action on Saturday, March 22 when they face Tennessee State at Cajun Courts. The match is set to begin at 11 a.m.
