For every example that you can give me of us being referred to as Louisiana, I can give you ten of us being referred to as UL-Lafayette, but so what? This has nothing to do with whether or not I continue to support UL. That is the point I was trying to make.

To anyone who thinks that if we haven't succeeded with the name change in thirty years, we are not going to. The majority of the people in our state simply do not want us to become known as Louisiana. Nothing we have done has put a dent in their opposition to it. I just think that there are more productive ways to spend one's energy in support of UL than beating this dead horse.

30 years ago it was SW Louisiana, now we have national TV networks referring to the program as Louisiana. This has caused some controversy and that is why there is the debate.
