Thread: Blake Anderson to Arkansas State

Default Blake Anderson to Arkansas State

    Interviews went extremely well....

The Rumor Mill reports that UNC would be high on replacing him with Jay Johnson. We're gonna see Jay's name pop up in a lot of O.C. positions, maybe a head coach spot (smaller-type schools) as the snowball gets bigger.

-We have really good, young and energetic staff here. The longer we keep them and keep their pay competitive, the better our core will be. If you can keep your foundation, you eliminate those "lightning in a bottle" type seasons where you fall of the map once a coach or two leaves....Keep building!

On the other hand, if he leaves for what get perceives as a bigger opportunity and Hud replaces him with another quality coach it helps build your programs reputation as a place to coach and reverses the perception we had of being a coaching graveyard.

Maybe Steve Campbell would be ready to come. Jay Johnson's salary has gone up since he has been here. HUD tried to get him here when he first got here.

Anderson is more then likely the choice. A few State insiders know, but aren't saying anything until the private jet leaves the airport. Should be interesting to hear the announcement.

That's right. He moved on to Louisville after the 2007 season

  7. Default A-State Has A New Coach – Blake Anderson

Our sources say Arkansas State has a new head football coach: Blake Anderson ... He has Sun Belt Conference coaching experience with time at UL and MT. He knows the league. We expect a press conference ...

Default Blake Anderson leaving UNC for stAte

"Anderson found great success with the Tar Heels in 2012, setting numerous school records while helping lead UNC to an 8-4 record. They averaged 40.6 points per game and ranked 14th nationally in yards per game. North Carolina took a step back this past season after losing a handful of players to the NFL and graduation, posting a 6-6 record and ranking just 48th in scoring.

Prior to joining UNC, Anderson spent three years coaching at Southern Miss. He also served as the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at [Louisiana] in 2007."

Not a 100% done deal as of late yesterday, they are also in talks with Chad Morris OC for Clemson. But more than likely Anderson will be the guy.

Southern Miss should have hired Anderson a few years ago as head coach..they probably wouldn't be where they are now. Great hire for ASU in my opinion.

On a side note, remember not that long ago when Sunbelt was a "coaching graveyard." Boy how things have changed....

Yea and he didn't show much loyalty. Of course, the pay was probably insultingly low.
