    I remember ... he was here just to get his name out for a better job ... kind of like Scelfo.

    Another note; the Steve Campbell mentioned earlier that is now HC at Central Arkansas ... He replaces Clint Conque who resigned after 14 years as head coach of the Bears ... who was the same guy mentioned here back when we were replacing Bustle .

    Correct. He actually resigned be the Head Coach at fellow Southland mate Stephen F. Austin. I'm sure he will still be mentioned if HUD leaves.

    Steve Campbell is the new head coach at Central Arkansas.

    On a side note, remember not that long ago when Sunbelt was a "coaching graveyard." Boy how things have changed....
    Not so much, the only school moving coaches into bigger jobs is ASU, that is not the SBC.

    What are the odds Anderson is somewhere else this time next year?

    WKU did as well. We will also when Hud moves on.

    Zero to 5%.

  8. UL Football Re: Blake Anderson to Arkansas State

    Forgot about WKU, but really USF is not really a what I consider a move up. AQ schools with huge budgets it ain't.

    One former Sunbelt coach is playing for a National Championship, one is rebuilding a once proud program in Ole Miss, one just got hired at the best non AQ program in the past decade and Taggard at an AQ school after one year. Cristobal also turned down the Rutgers job while at FIU...turned out to be a terrible mistake.

    Granted they are mostly from one school but these guys are having success and larger schools are paying attention. I would imagine Hud, Miles, and possibly Franchoine be gone within the next couple of years.

    They must be tired of 1 and done coaches...

    @coachingsearch: Blake Anderson's buyout: $3 million, $3 million, $2 million, $2 million, $1 million. (WOW) $700,000 salary.

    According to reports Anderson had no push back whatsoever to the high buyouts...this is his "dream job" and will be there for a while. Looks like they will finally get some stability in Jonesboro.

    I'm interested to find out if the buyout works both way. If he sucks it up and they want to cut ties in year 3 will they have to pay the huge buyout.

    I doubt that buy out could withstand a court battle. The contract is overkill. ASU would have to show his early departure would harm them in some way. Their recent history says otherwise.

    The SBC is started to sound like the MAC, the cradle of coaches.

    A lot of that was by design. I'm pretty sure all of those guys were told to go get a head coaching gig and the would be serious contenders for the job at their respective schools when a spot came available. I can almost guarantee that's what happened with malzahn, and likely freeze too. Do we really think Harsins performance this year wowed Boise into saying "that's our guy"? These guys all used stAte as a stepping stone. And state has benefited from this as well.
