I'll be honest, I thought USA was better than ASU, at least late in the year. They were playing really well. Their QB was second team all SBC and their defense is the best in the league. A loss to ULM was toughly contested game where crucial turnovers late spelled our doom. I can live with that. It happens from time to time, especially against rivals for which you've owned the past 5 or 6 years. I could really handle a tough, hard fought loss to USA had it been a contested ball game that maybe just got decided by the bounce of a ball here or there but we were never in it. However, if Bigbuf is not embarrassed by what he saw last weekend, then maybe his fandom needs to be questioned. Oh, I'm sorry. We aren't supposed to be embarrassed right?

Z, do you think we may have peaked as a team too early in the year or are we just one dimensional in that we rely on Broadway more than we should have to? I understand QB is an integral part of the team, but it seems as though it is the only part of the team in regards to our play the last couple of weeks.

I do think we peaked at mid season but I don't think we used Broadway enough. This offense, even dating back to Gautier running it, was at its best when the QB is a true threat to run the ball and pass. Broadway's numbers in both passing and rushing were down this year, even had he played the whole game against ULM and USA. While the running backs are studs, I think our offense is best when the ball is in the QB's hands, at least Broadway's hands. After the ASU game last year where he struggled, this offense simply hummed once we got going and Broadway was leading the conference in total offense. I think we kind of sold our passing game short this year and our receivers talents. However, the running game was able to chew up more clock and if you look at this year's total defensive numbers compared to last year, they are actually better in many categories which shows what a good running game can do

Very true! We cheered heavily when we finally got a 1st down after Nixon came in, I believe. And it was sarcastic in nature.

I'm good with what Coach Hud said. He's learning, but so are we as fans. We have never been in this position of winning before, and it's a lot of fun to have a very good team to follow, to pull for, and to dissect what's happening on the field. Passion is both a blessing and a curse.

We had only one defensive first team all sunbelt, one second team and one honorable mention. We only had three senior starters returning and with Gillis getting hurt, the defense was throw into a unusual line up. We had 3 out of 4 starter on the D line returning and only two other wise on the D and one of those got hurt and was out for the season. Also with injuries to Tig, Chris Hill and Anayama the LB corps were constantly getting moved around. There were injuries at all areas of the D and it's tough to build a cohesive unit with all that going on. But hey it's football and injuries will happen.....but as fans we should look at the WHOLE year not just a few choice areas that you think will confirm what you think.

These players and coaches have accomplished more than anyone else before them and they deserve all the praise and admiration we can give them for giving us such times of plenty and the deserve none of the hate and negativity that this board seems to love to spew.

I'm with coach....haters start jumping....we can't afford the drag you are putting on our high speed bus!
Bigbuf, I totally understand where you are coming from and respect your opinion (and everyone else's), but the "clique" on this board will not tolerate a post like this. Your post count and join date are not high enough to get away with saying what you did. Get back in line and behave!! I tried to pump some positive energy amongst all the negative on this board a couple weeks ago, it didn't go so well for me. Hahaaa... ya gotta love Ragin Pagin.

Right... along with the "you probably don't even know what RCAF is." Welcome to Ragin' Pagin. :P

One thing that enters on all of these posts is our prejudices of styles (offenses and defenses) I don't like drop back as compared to play action bootleg and waggle type stuff---this is especially true if you have a QB like B-Way or the USA and Monroe's---I am tired of the results of the 3 man rush where the QB has forever to throw or then run-----Gerald Broussard put up a pretty damn good defense of the strategy on YOUNG BILLY's show yesterday however-----So who knows???? I am satisfied with the direction that this university is taking in regards to its campus in beautification and I think in the academic area in a push to Tier I status (still waiting on someone to post why we aren't and what we need)-----In the top 5 pentathalan or whatever T-Bine calls it I think we are going in the right direction----Football I am a bit worried with the recruiting as a star gazer----MBB I think is recovering from an initial disaster from the wrong kind of kids and coaches---Really seem to now be on the right course----Baseball should be going to the regionals again along with softball---WBB has had a noticeable improvement and needs to get some taller players to reach a higher level (pun intended)!!!! Bottom line is that we need to bowl every year in football and region every year in other sports ---anything else is unacceptable----This has to be the goal along with the main one to get into the BIG 12!!! Hell while I am at it we need to average 35K - 40k in football---get to 8k in basketball and 3k in baseball!!!! ok gotta go to work!!!

Just because I don't post means absolutely nothing. I also don't believe I have to justify how long I have been a member or fan or RCAF member. But just to make you happy. I have said before I am a graduate of Kaplan High in 89 and I have seen everyone on the wall of fame play except one. I also help take down the pole after the A&M game and have a tailgating spot and a all Cajun level RCAF member. But none of that matters. Everyone can have an opinion and I have had one for many years.

I have never cared about clique and never will. In fact I am much like HUD and speak for the heart and many times it gets my but in a sling. I am man enough to get out of it myself.

Like it or not this board can get VERY negative and it seriously hurts the cause. Yes you say what ever you want, but being a whining two year old does absolutely nothing for our public image or our fight for the name. All whining does is setup the entire fan base for being ridiculed by in state and out of state schools. Hell the Tulane board is already saying that we are going to blame them if ESPN get the name wrong. No I really don't care what they think, but as a whole we should be very concerned about the public perception of UL and it's fans. Perception is reality that our small budget can't make up for.

Now J1M you may be right that I shouldn't have kick Zeph in the nuts. And yes ,Zeph, The USA was embarrassing. But I just can't stand people beating a horse to death. The calls to can coach Willis are ridiculous. Yes the D needs work but show me a D that doesn't.

I appreciate his rant...it shows he has passion and I agree...the haters need to get off the bus.

My wife and I both love Hud, but would care even more if he ditched the old Serta 3!
