Default USA Today 64 Team Football Playoff

Saw a link to the USA Today 64 team football playoff on the CUSA board. UL was the #14 seed in one regional playing Arizona State. Unable to copy and post. Maybe someone can do so.

Tulane didn't make the playoff bracket.

If only this could actually happen. I wish as a college football lover, they would do this ASAP.

It would take 5 weeks to do this. 1week each round. Never going to happen

Select 32 or 16!!! 8 conferences and then at large!!!

Do a 24 team (identical to the FCS format). Conference champs get in, 14 at large, and top 8 seeds get a 1st round bye.

Exactly the format I thought of. Would be better if they kept all rounds except semi's and final on campus. Campus stadiums are the beauty of college football and the hub of all the pageantry. Its not the fabricated fakeness of the bowl games.

As interesting as it would be as a Cajun fan I would not like this. We would never have a bowl experience OR a chance at a National Championship in this scenerio. If we did make the playoff (however many schools) we would never have a home game and would have to travel to a BCS school every year. That would get old.

Now here's a thought, what if the P5 did decide to split from us?? Playoff with the midmajors or bowl??

The non AQ schools would finally be able to tell recruits we can compete for a national championship. I think it puts us on a more equal ground than it does today.

Exactly and you get more of a true champion. The problem is the bcs would not like the small schools on equal ground.

Worst scenario would be a split from the P5 bc then you become nothing more than 2nd class. You become what the FCS is today.
