Default Louisiana vs Tulane - Statistical Comparison (NCAA Overall Statistical Rankings)

I pulled the statistic rankings from NCAA.org for comparison purposes:

    Additionally:
Tulane's competition was 59-59 for .500 winning percentage (ranked 73rd).
Louisiana's competition was 44-64 for .407 winning percentage (ranked 114th).
Conference USA's winning percentage was .444
Sun Belt's winning percentage was .456

Another thing to keep in mind about our defensive philosophy, University College has a very good kicker in Santos. He combines range and accuracy . All the more reason to get after them defensively and stop them back deep on their side of the field rather than letting them get close where Santos is clutch

Hammer, You make a very good point. If I'm not mistaken, Santos was a 1st team All-American last season and is a great kicker. Our bend, but don't break, defensive mentality will result in an almost guaranteed 3 points for the Green Wave, anytime UL let's them penetrate to 40 yard line.

Agreed. The Cajuns became one dimensional and USA filled the box and stuffed the run. With TB, we can estabish the run. W/O TB, the pressure will be 100% on Haack and the receivers to connect, which in turn, will open up the run game. I think we will get the running game going against Tulane.

Even when we were pounding the ball and teams were stacking the box we were still successful because our O-line was getting a good surge and opening holes. The O-line was not quite as effective against the waaaaahoax and was rather atrocious against SoAl.

It's an old cliche but it us true the fame will be won or list at the LOS. our O-line will need to get back to midseason form and get our running game untracked while providing protection when we do pass. Short quick hit passes to TEs and WRs will also help the O-line in passing game. Our D-line and LBs will need to stop UC's running backs and put pressure on Montana. He has not been very accurate when pressured. But like any halfway decent QB, if you let him sit back in pocket and wait for a receiver to squat down in the seams of the zone he will pick you apart.

The difference in the game will be how involved our All-American RB ( EMcG ) is in the game!!!!

USA did a good job on both Harris and McGuire. I think our QB play will be better, which help our backs.
