Word is Arkansas State's coach Harsin is headed to Boise.
Clearly just because of his former employment there and not because of his head coaching record. He wasn't bad by any means, but nothing that would say "this is definitely the guy" if I were looking at a blind resume. Not for Boise State.
On a different note, Arkansas State must be making a killing. They haven't had to pay a head football coach in a few years because of buyouts of predecessors.
I didn't realize he came from Boise, makes a lot more sense to me now.
Then again, this came out an hour ago. Seems he (at least publicly) withdrew his name from consideration (ie: he didn't get it). http://www.sbnation.com/college-foot...te-boise-state
I guess I jumped the gun, my source was wrong
This is an interesting situation ... Boise named their LB coach the interim HC ... did Peterson say or take his two coordinators? Also, I can't believe Harsin took his name out of the search and/or they went elsewhere ... he did pretty well at ASU with new players and a new offensive scheme ... but I agree with BrockMeaux, his main reason for withdrawing must be because he knew he wasn't getting the job. imo
I doubt he withdrew because life is so awesome in Jonesboro that he's made a retirement home there.
Or a 1.6 million dollar buyout is a little more than Boise wants to pay.
Looking like Bryan Harsin from ASU will be named the new coach at Boise today.
"Chris Petersen’s departure for the University of Washington may cost Boise State University more than its football coach. It also has a $40,000-a-year payment from Nike Inc. (NKE) on the line.
Boise State’s sponsorship contract with Nike says the world’s largest sporting goods maker can reduce cash payments to the school if Petersen is no longer with the team."
