Miami University is making its second-ever trip to the Hub City and its first since 2005. The RedHawks participated in the Mardi Gras Baseball Classic, falling to the Cajuns 4-3.

Home, Sweet Home. This weekend, the Cajuns will open their 2008 home slate against the Southern Miss Golden Eagles and the Miami RedHawks...

The Ragin’ Cajuns are 24-6 in home openers at M.L. "Tigue" Moore Field and have won 15 straight home openers...1993 was the last season that the Cajuns failed to win their home opener (a 13-11 loss to Nicholls State).

Cajuns Struggle at No. 18 Tulane. Tulane scored nine runs in the first five innings, while its pitching staff held No. 25 Louisiana to five hits as the 18th-ranked Green Wave shut down the Ragin’ Cajuns 10-1 Wednesday night at Turchin Stadium...Tulane held Louisiana to one hit until the eighth inning. Three of UL’s five hits came from freshmen...John Zorich made his first start on the mound since a 3 1/3-inning performance against McNeese State on March 20, 2007. However, Zorich’s (0-1) season debut didn’t last long as the senior survived 2 2/3 innings, allowing six runs on six hits.

Southern Miss Scouting Report. Through five games, Southern Miss (4-1) is batting .253 with only eight extra-base hits in 158 at bats. On Tuesday, the Golden Eagles lost 4-1 to ULM before winning 4-2 over South Alabama Wednesday...Four Golden Eagles are hitting better than .300, while Brian Dozier leads all players with seven hits...Current Cajun Chance Harst spent his freshman season at Southern Miss last year. Harst batted .238 with three doubles and four RBI in 18 games...Right-handed hurlers Barry Bowden (1-0, 1.69 ERA) and Josh Billeaud (0-0, 7.94 ERA) are scheduled to start for the Golden Eagles on Friday and Sunday, respectively.

Miami Scouting Report. The Miami RedHawks will be facing another round of nationally-ranked opponents this weekend. Last weekend, Miami (0-3) lost to No. 9 Arizona State, No. 7 Oregon State and No. 3 Vanderbilt in Tempe, Ariz...Miami is batting just .202 with five extra-base hits and only five runs batted in...Saturday’s projected starter, right-handed pitcher Chris Niro (0-1, 0.00 ERA) was the hard-luck loser, allowing four unearned runs in 5 2/3 innings of work last weekend at Arizona State.

Farquhar Solid in Debut Win. Preseason Sun Belt Conference Pitcher of the Year Danny Farquhar struck out a game-high nine batters, while sophomore Justin Robichaux struck out three batters in the ninth inning to lead the 19th-ranked Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns to a 2-1 victory over Army Friday at Wolff Stadium...Friday’s win marked Farquhar’s first win as a starter since May 17 at UNO. Farquhar scattered two hits, while walking four batters in six innings of work.

Moody, Broussard Post First Combined One-Hit Shutout since 1984. For the first time in 24 years, two Louisiana pitchers combined for a one-hit shutout as the 19th-ranked Ragin’ Cajuns scored two runs in the first inning and were able to hold on for a 4-0 win over the Texas Tech Red Raiders Saturday at Wolff Stadium...Current Louisiana head coach Tony Robichaux and former Major Leaguer Xavier Hernandez were the last two Cajun pitchers to accomplished the feat in a 6-0 season-opening win at Northwestern State on Feb. 22, 1984...For the second game in a row, a Louisiana pitcher tossed a six-inning masterpiece. Senior Hunter Moody struck out nine batters, while not allowing a runner past second base. LSU-Eunice transfer Matt Broussard nailed down the Cajuns’ second save of the weekend, striking out four batters in three innings of relief.

Moody Named Sun Belt Conference Pitcher of the Week Tuesday. Senior pitcher Hunter Moody earned Louisiana’s first Sun Belt Conference honor of the season Tuesday when the Clinton, La. native was named the league’s Pitcher of the Week...Moody struck out nine batters in six shutout innings and combined for a one-hit shutout of Texas Tech on Saturday in San Antonio, Texas...The honor was his third weekly award of his career. Moody was the 2006 Sun Belt Conference Pitcher of the Year.

Moody Named LSWA Pitcher of the Week Wednesday. Senior pitcher Hunter Moody earned Louisiana’s first state honor of the season Wednesday when he was named to the Louisiana Sportswriters Association Pitcher of the Week.

Southern Miss Series. Louisiana holds a 14-10 all-time lead in the Southern Miss series and is 9-0 at home. Since 1972, the Cajuns are 12-9 vs. Southern Miss...The Cajuns have lost five of the last six meetings in the series - all in Hattiesburg (2001 and 2007).

Miami Series. Miami University, located in Oxford, Ohio, makes its second trip to "The Tigue" in four seasons. In 2005, the RedHawks participated in the Mardi Gras Baseball Classic...The meeting in 2005 is the only series meeting with the Cajuns winning 4-3.

I-10 Series. Tulane was the second of seven Louisiana opponents located along the Interstate 10 corridor. Sunday, the Ragin’ Cajuns lost 6-5 to the UTSA Roadrunners in San Antonio...The Ragin’ Cajuns also face I-10 schools Houston, Rice, McNeese State, South Alabama and LSU.

Debuts Galore. n total, thirteen (13) players made their Cajuns debut this past weekend at the UTSA Baseball Classic in San Antonio, Texas...Eight rookies made their first career starts in the field as Cajuns. Jordan Poirrier and Tyler Benzel started two games at second and third base, respectively. Chance Harst started three out of four games in left field, while Thad Griffen made two starts behind the plate...Four pitchers made their debut this weekend, as the quartet combined for five hits and one unearned run with 12 strikeouts in 8 2/3 innings.

New Closer, No Problem. With the promotion of junior hurler Danny Farquhar to the UL starting rotation, the Ragin’ Cajuns were faced with finding a new closer for the 2008 season...The Cajuns didn’t have to go far as sophomore utility player Justin Robichaux answered the call, shutting down the Army Black Nights in the season opener...Robichaux struck out the Army side in the bottom of the ninth to close the door on his first save in 2008.

Up Next - Houston and Southeastern Louisiana. Following this weekend’s home series opener, the Cajuns will head west to face the Houston Cougars on Tuesday at Cougar Field. The Cougars hold a 34-10-1 all-time series advantage with the Cajuns as UH has won the last six meetings. The Cajuns have not won at Houston since May 30, 1999, at the NCAA Houston Regional...Louisiana returns to "The Tigue" on Wednesday, March 5 to play the Southeastern Louisiana Lions. UL is 56-37 against SLU, winning the last five meetings. The Cajuns haven’t lost to SLU at home since March 20, 1987.

CST Adds Two Cajuns Games to TV Schedule. CST announced its NCAA baseball and softball schedule Friday, Feb. 22, which will feature two Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns baseball games...Louisiana’s April 26 Sun Belt Conference contest against the Troy Trojans will be aired live at 3 p.m. from M.L. "Tigre" Moore Field. Then, the Cajuns’ highly-awaited visit to Alex Box Stadium to face the LSU Tigers will be carried live on Tuesday, April 29 at 6:30 p.m...The championship game of the Sun Belt Conference Baseball Tournament, which will be held at "The Tigue" May 21-24, will be broadcast live on Saturday, May 24 at 3 p.m.
