  1. UL Softball 8-0 Lady Cajuns Set for NFCA Leadoff Classic


      The Lady Cajuns of Louisiana open up the 2008 Leadoff Classic on Friday morning.

    UL - Louisiana’s Lady Cajuns softball team heads to Columbus, Ga., this weekend for the 13th Annual NFCA Leadoff Classic at the South Commons Stadium and Complex.

    Louisiana (8-0) will face five teams in the Leadoff, including a pair of ranked opponents.

    UL will open the tournament with No. 23 North Carolina at 10:00 a.m. on Friday morning, before taking on Nebraska at 5:30 p.m. On Saturday, the Cajuns will face off against Tennessee Tech at 3:00 p.m. and Iowa at 5:30 p.m. Louisiana closes out the NFCA Leadoff Classic with a 9:00 a.m. game with No. 12 Michigan.

    The Ragin’ Cajuns are no stranger to the Leadoff Classic. In its 13-year history, the Cajuns have competed in the event seven times, including this season. The Cajuns have now participated in the Leadoff Classic three of the last four years.

    UL enters the 2008 Leadoff Classic with a 19-10 (.655) overall record in the event.

    It will be interesting. North Carolina, Iowa and Michigan are ranked, Tennessee Tech is normally their conference's champion, Nebraska is a perennial post season team. Nebraska & TN Tech have started slow, but everybody gets geared up for competition like this. These next three weeks will determine how much this team has changed from last year.
