Over the weekend, UL pitcher Hunter Moody joined head coach Tony Robichaux in the school's record books.
Moody combined with LSU-Eunice transfer Matt Broussard for a one-hit shutout Saturday in a 4-0 win over Texas Tech in the UTSA Baseball Classic in San Antonio, Texas. Moody struck out nine batters and allowed only one hit in six innings for the nationally ranked Cajuns (2-2). He never allowed a runner to advance past second base.
It was the first time in 24 years two Cajun pitchers combined for a one-hit shutout. The last to do it - Robichaux and former Major Leaguer Xavier Hernandez in a 6-0 win over Northwestern State on Feb. 22, 1984.
