SPRING, TX - Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajuns golf team moved up four spots in the final day of the All-American Intercollegiate at the Tradition at Cypresswood in Spring, Texas.
The Cajuns were aided by a stellar performance by Thomas Petts (North Vancouver, British Columbus, Canada). The freshman turned in a final round score of even par to finish the tournament in a tie for third place.
Petts score helped lift the Cajuns into third place, five strokes behind tournament winner Middle Tennessee and four strokes behind UALR for second.
The Ragin’ Cajuns finished a stroke ahead of New Mexico State, and tournament-host Houston rounded out the top five.
The Cajuns had two other players finish in the top-25 in the tournament. Devin Carrey (South Surrey, British Columbia, Canada) carded a final round score of 76 to finish tied for 10th, while senior Michael Smith (Lafayette, La.) closed out the tournament with a 76 as well to place in a tie for 22nd.
Morgan Landry (Lafayette, La.) and Dustin Petit (Luling, La.) finished the tournament tied for 35th. Petit tied Carrey and Smith with a final round score of 76, while Landry turned in a scorecard of 80.
Playing as an independent was B.C. Thibeaux, III (Lafayette, La.). Thibeaux withdrew from the tournament in the final round.
The Ragin’ Cajuns return to action on March 10-11 with the 23rd Annual Louisiana Classics Golf Tournament at Oakbourne Country Club in Lafayette. The tournament hosted by the Cajuns, kicks off on Sunday with a College-Am. The tournament tees off on Monday morning and continues through Tuesday.
