We don't have enough of a contraversy at QB to really question who the coaches play. If Broadway's healthy... it's a no brainer. From the other three... I only have the last regular season game to draw any information. I felt Nixon looked way more confident and comfortable running the offense. He was in clean-up duty... but so was Haack... somewhat... in the ULM game. I have no problem with whatever the coaches decide. I do believe we need to consider that Tulane will very likely stack the box, bull rush us, and we will have little to no time to allow any QB the luxury of dropping back, looking upfield, and hunting for an open receiver. It appeared that we thought we could pass protect for Haack the other night... and that didn't happen then... and I doubt it will against Tulane.
I do believe we need to come out and establish a ground and pound... and make Tulane's defense pay for what I think will be some serious sell-outs to stuff us (overstacking the box and/or all out QB blitzes). We need to see if we can pound them with our big uglies and soften up their DL. If we play smart... I think our offense... even with one of the backups... can crack Tulane's defense. We must move the chains, own the clock, and find pay dirt... and keep our defense off the field.
We really need our OL to help Alonzo have some success early in this game IMO. If we can, I think we can balance out and run our offense.
