None of them..... Run the wildcat with Mcguire all game long
well, not knowing who the qb will be should be an advantage... hopefully there will be packages for all backups and have some wrinkles for the tulame d coordinator to deal with
I don't think you understand. We may have no other choice. We have a very good run block OL. The key is that we must have some passing threat in there. Nixon can throw the ball. The key is that he is also a run threat. That is our best option at this point IMO. He looked exceedingly more comfortable in the game last night than did Haack or Landor. I also believe the dome is going to be loud. Our best bet is to attempt to move the ball on the ground, stay out of 3rd and long, and intelligently strike with safe passing attempts.
None of this has anything to do with the strength and weaknesses of Tulane. The only thing I've been told on this forum... over and over again... by our Boomer... is that Tulane has some outstaning DBs. That makes our plan of a ground attack all the more warranted.
My worries are not so much our offense. I'm concerned, but not worried. I am worried about our defense forced into action too often and on a short field.
Fair enough. We do have good DB's. Overall, our defense is vastly improved which is why I say it will be a low scoring game. We have our own troubles putting points on the board and our strength is our D. Whoever wins, it will be something like 17-13.
The problem with Haack is that half of the running game is gone cause he can't run....Nixon and Landor at least give you that option..... For 2 weeks we are thinking only Tulane and they did see my secret weapon!!!!
I've watched a handful of Tulane's games and there is defense is really good compared to the other teams in our conference. There defense is 16th in rushing defense, 11th in red zone defense, 20th in scoring defense, 26th in total defense. Doss at CB is second in nation with 7 interceptions and leads nation returns yards off interceptions. Offensively, they are struggling. But so are we. Should be a close game. Only SBC total defense better than Tulane is WKU. So we have played a defense of their caliber and faired well. But we all know we was close if not entirely at full strength.
Im just hoping for a win.
We have to limit turnovers and play field position and hope for the best. Oh and can our DB's play the slant.
