Thread: A Spring Look at the Offensive Line

  1. UL Football A Spring Look at the Offensive Line

With what the Cajun football team fondly refers to as “Red Dawn” behind them, preparation has all ready begun for Friday’s first practice and the beginning of Spring football.

In case you don’t know what “Red Dawn” is, here is a brief explanation. As most of Lafayette was in blissful slumber, the Ragin Cajun football team was enduring a grueling two weeks of strength, agility and conditioning in preparation for opening day of spring practice.

The line will definitely be one of our strengths this year and next. I love the blend of youth and experience. Hopefully they will put on some good weight this offseason and continue to improve. Can't wait to see what Plouhar and Odom can do.

Two important ingredients in my opinion: health of Pirtle and ability of Burks to put on a little more bulk. Otherwise, this seems to be a really good combination of experience, youth, ability, and depth.

The size would be more important if we had a power running scheme but for the zone blocking scheme we run the size isn't as big of a deal. In a zone scheme you want to have guys that can move and not exactly go downhill right at someone.
