UL’s O’Brien wins design award

Sarah O’Brien, a senior in industrial design at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, has placed first in the 15th annual Student Design Competition run by the International Housewares Association. She will receive $2,400 and an all-expense paid trip to the International Home + Housewares Show in Chicago on March 16-18. There, O’Brien will make contacts that may lead to selling her product idea to a manufacturer or securing a job upon graduation. The rest of the story

Congrats to Sarah! She, like so many other students at UL in the College of the Arts, is extremely talented. The public will get a chance to see what the College has to offer April 1 - 5, 2008 during their 2nd Annual Festival of the Arts. It will feature lectures, music and dance performances, a fashion runway show, and much more. Closing the week will be the Festival Gala, which will feature food from local restaurants, music, and a silent auction that will include works from many area artists and students.
