UL - Louisiana’s Lady Cajuns softball team returns to the diamond on Wednesday as they head to Lake Charles to take on in-state rival McNeese State. First pitch is slated for 5:00 p.m.
The Lady Cajuns will look to improve on their 3-0 record on the season. UL has not played since they claimed the Louisiana Tech Invitational title on Sunday, Feb. 10.
The game will be a homecoming of sorts for Cajuns shortstop Brooke Brodhead (Lafayette, La.). The senior transferred from McNeese State after spending three seasons as a Cowgirl.
Brodhead was a 2007 NFCA All-South Region selection while with MSU. She was a two time member of the All-Southland Conference team, as well as, an All-Southland Conference Tournament team pick while at McNeese State.
The midweek contest with the Cowgirls will be the first of five games on the week for the Ragin’ Cajuns.
UL plays host to a pair of schools from the Magnolia State in the 22nd Annual Louisiana Classics Tournament. The Cajuns begin the tournament on Friday afternoon at 5:00 p.m. against Mississippi Valley State.
The tournament continues on Saturday morning with a game between MVSU and Southern Miss at 11:00 a.m. The Cajuns follow with a game against the Golden Eagles at 1:30 p.m. before playing Mississippi Valley State at 4:00 p.m.
On Sunday, the tournament begins at 1:00 p.m. with Mississippi Valley State against Southern Miss. The Cajuns conclude the tournament at 3:30 p.m. with a televised game against Southern Miss. The game will be broadcast on KLAF in Lafayette and the surrounding areas.
