That was a helluva catch for that TD.
I really don't think NFL refs know the rules. Earlier this year, a holding call was picked up because the player ran through the hold. Tonight, a holding call was picked up because the QB had already started running? Maybe I missed something, but why does that change the holding call?
Also don't understand why they feel the need to have a 5 minute explanation...throw the flag, call the penalty and yardage spot the ball and play. I don't need to hear everything the ref saw during the entire play. The qb hiked the ball...the wr the began to run down the field in which at that time the defender began to guard him. The defender then got close to the wr in what appeared to be a penalty, after all 4 of us discussing it we now realize the wr was just adjusting himself, there is no foul on the play
Gene Steratore gives some of the best, most clear and concise explanations in the league. Games that he calls are usually a joy because there's little to gripe about with officiating afterwards. Ed Hochuli, on the other hand, has taken to giving the most detailed, convoluted explanations in the NFL. He's been among the worst in the league since his Chargers/Broncos debacle a few years ago. He was great before, then he blew that game and hasn't been the same since. Like he lost his confidence and hasn't been able to find it again.
