However, while this may have occurred to a degree, I am not buying what someone within the board for the Ibowl was saying about us being their #2 option outside of Notre Dame. I do not buy that for one second. Everyone knew that Notre Dame was not going to Shreveport as they have been looking at the Pinstripe bowl and that includes the Ibowl reps. If we were their number 2 option, we would have been offered long ago. I'm not really sure why we were taking ticket reservations for the Ibowl if we were positively not going there either. Why go through the extra motions if you do not plan to go. I think the Ibowl wanted us to campaign like crazy to go and when we didn't they did not like that too much. I also think that the potential opponents from ACC and elsewhere were not interested in flying long distances to play us which made it hard for them to offer us and hard for us to accept. In other words, I think the truth is likely somewhere in the middle.
oh okay, so that one of three sides to a story then.

and, is this a possibility? Everyone asked when we got to 6 wins "when are we getting the public NOLA bowl invite?" say that we agreed to a deal with NOLA early on, and in GOOD BUSINESS told IBOWL "hey, listen, just letting you know we already have a deal with NOLA. we just havent gone public yet, don't waste your time and resources on trying to get us there, we are locked up else where."

and i don't want to hear, "well, we should have held out to see what was out there", because at 6 wins everyone wanted that NOLA bowl invite right away.

Nola bowl wanted to invite. Indy bowl showed interest but has to wait until after sec championship to see how the sec side falls. Nola bowl does not want to wait to invite only 2 weeks from their game, will invite asu or wku instead. If Indy bowl fall through, we are stuck going to Detroit as champion, if we don't win championship we are at home. Sound familiar? Who did that happen too last year, can't remember...anyone?

The greater danger here is the threat of our administration being in bed with the New Orleans Bowl. It's no secret that bowls like to smooze and grease palms all day long. It's how they keep the charade going. Bowls are made to benefit very few. They are billed as tourist attractions and charities...when the reality is...they are good ole boy network cash machines that pay out to keep themselves operating and keep the good times rolling right along. The danger here is...did the New Orleans Bowl take a wad of cash...and shove it directly into Savoie and/or Farmer's pocket...and said "if anyone else comes along, just tell them you are spoken for." Think about it.

If Savoie and Farmer love the treatment and the pampering the New Orleans Bowl gives them and they don't want to lose their status with them...would they give the cold shoulder to any other bowls who come calling? This scenario is highly likely. Maybe friendships have been made...agreements have been agreed upon...all while the New Orleans Bowl is wining and dining our top brass. The problem is two-fold...first off...it destroys any chances of our program making any progress with any other bowls and shoe horns us into lifetime relationship with a bowl at the bottom rung of the bowl ladder. Secondly...it takes any remaining integrity our administration has...unbuckles it's belt...drops trow...and takes a massive ____ all over it. If Savoie and Farmer did a back door deal to all but guarantee that we would once again grace New Orleans with our presence...and Hud was not aware of it...we are positively 100% ____ed. No lube...right in the exit door. Hud would take the first train out of here with his ___ cheeks firmly pressed against the glass until he hits the city limits.

This is a very troubling development. And the word needs to get out. Even if there is no credence to this rumor at all...it needs to be flushed out. If you let a faulty wire go...it may burn down your house eventually. Better to tear down the sheet rock...find the faulty wire...and fix it before it all goes to ____. And where is our recourse? This is the real dirty part of this whole scenario...we have no recourse...or at least we have no recourse that doesn't end badly.

The only way to really hit Farmer and Savoie where it hurts...is to cancel your reservations...buy zero bowl tickets...and tell them to pay for their golf and spa days out of their own pocket instead of from the New Orleans Bowl's pocket. But that hurts the team...and it hurts Hud...and it screws us the fan out of another enjoyable bowl game where we get to have a weekend in party city watching our Cajuns play. So...what to do? One of these bandages is gonna have to be ripped off. Either way we need to find out the truth...hopefully Hud gets to find out the truth before we all do...he deserves to know if his own people went behind his back. And whatever happens with him...they did it to themselves.

Unless, of course some of you are happy with the NO Bowl forever....

This is nothing but a rumor. None of us have any idea how long Farmer spoke to the I-bowl. None of us know if financial terms were discussed. None of us know if the I-bowl was just making contingency plans.

This is what we do know. We were not their first choice. We were not going to get the SEC payout. Before yesterday very few Cajun fans wanted to go to Shreveport over NOLA.

As stated ad nauseum, the NOLA bowl is the best bowl for us. Now if we were having a special year, I would be the first one squawking about going to a better bowl. But guess what...we are not having a special year. We got beat handily by a bottom of the barrel SEC team and a mediocre Big12 team. With the exception of ARK St we have had trouble with any offensive team registering a pulse. IF we beat USA next week, we have a real chance at a 10 win season. That is important. If we went to the I-bowl the chance of a 10 win season would be miniscule. Program building is tough and it is often done over time. I still like the direction of the program and we still have two goals within reach(an outright SBC championship & a 10 win season). I believe reaching these two goals will assist us in getting a better conference affiliation. The I-bowl probably diminishes those chances.

It is hard to write something this long and have zero actual facts. Well done.

I think part of the problem was that there was very poor cell reception on the grassy knoll.

Yeah, Hawk, you're saying T Joe and Farmer are taking kickbacks on public contracts.

    Do you honestly believe this?

Cause if this is the case, then violating state legislative policy on the name is the least of anyone's concerns.

I heard Farmer didn't say "God Bless You" on the phone when the I-Bowl rep sneezed. Due to some legislative pressure, T-Joe had SPECIFICALLY instructed Farmer to not say "God" (separation of church and state, yknow?).

Farmer didn't know what to do after the sneeze came, but his instructions were clear. Instead of saying the forbidden phrase he waited for the employees in the Athletic Department building to yell out, "GOD BLESS YOU" in unison. They were just confused, so Farmer got nervous and yelled "F__ YOU I-BOWL" then hung up.

This my friends, is why we're going to the New Orleans Bowl for the 3rd straight year. HEADS MUST ROLL!!

So you are saying I have a career in journalism? I'm doing it wrong being an accountant.
