If this is true, the administration made the right call. Unless the I-bowl was coming with an offer and a matchup, it is just talk. I am also glad Doc Savoie is making this decision. It is his University, not Hud's. How many more examples do we need that college football coaches do not have the best interest of the University at heart.

That is a question I can't answer Hawk. I guess for the same reasons QB Club members were told last week by Farmer that we are talking to a number of bowls when there was already a verbal agreement to accept the NO Bowl invitation in place. Benson wanted to negotiate UL to the Independence Bowl to get another SBC team a bowl slot. He was told no, we were accepting the NO Bowl invitation. There was no discussion between UL and the Indy Bowl other then a call to measure interest. No one knows what the Indy Bowl was willing to offer in payout or seating because the discussion never went that far according to Benson and the Indy Bowl.

The Indy bowl cannot...repeat f'n cannot agree to anything until after sec championship. The only bowl we could have an agreement that early with are the ones we are tied into.

I get the fact that our Administration sux. It sux really bad. I just can't wrap my head around the fact that the "Savior" of our football program is not involved in where HIS football team will play. I'll chew on the Crow Sammich if I'm wrong, but I just think that there's a big level of respect for Hud and quite frankly I think Hud slaps Farmer around a little bit behind closed doors.

Take out your "Jump to Conclusions" mat...look for the one that says "Savoie may not have had the Universities best interest at heart, but merely his own selfish desires"...fish in my hole.

Of course its true, Dr Savioe makes the final decisions on such matters. The Indy Bowl did not call with any offers period, they were told we were accepting the NO Bowl invitation. The conversation never got to that point.

Saying that dr savoie makes the final decision and HUD didn't have any say so on the matter are 2 totally different things. The president has the final say on everything. We are playing for an outright championship and going you our 3rd consecutive bowl and people are more negative when we were 3-9. HUD won't leave because of the Nola bowl. HUD will leave when winning and success isn't good enough around here. Never thought that would happen in 3 years. We might be the most hypocritical fan base in the country.

Correct...but I am sure they can plan for contingencies in case everything doesn't work out. I'm sure they had something to offer in case lets say...I don't know...Ole Miss wins the Egg Bowl or two SEC teams get BCS bids and they now have a gaping hole where an SEC tie in used to be. No one is saying anything about turning down any agreement...it was the fact that we turned them away without listening to what they had to OFFER. Key word...OFFER. I myself was not a fan of the Indy Bowl as a bowl choice. I think it is a ____ty bowl...but to not even listen to them makes no sense at all. From a fans perspective...I'm glad they did it...from a business perspective...why not just listen to what they have to offer? There has to be a reason they gave them the cold shoulder. I don't think we will like it that much.

So to get the story straight.......

Go Daddy fell through (not an option)

Independence Bowl can't technically or formerly offer due to Conference Tie-In's (basically not an option at the present time)

NOLA Bowl offered and we accepted.

What am I missing? It's kind of like being a hitchhiker. You're walking on I-10 in the pooring down rain and you pass up the for sure ride because it's in the back of a pick up truck. You got a good feeling that you can catch that next person who offers a ride inside their car instead of the back of a truck. That ride never comes and you're left sitting under the bridge licking Cheetos dust from a bag that a fat kid just chunked out of the car.

I hope he does...and if he doesn't...it might be a good time to start.

The only conclusion I have come to is you like to stir the pot. If CajunT is right(and I expect he is) T-joe had an offer with many moving part and an offer with no moving parts. He chose the later. Cannot say I blame him considering the offer with many moving parts is not a significant upgrade.

This is true, but you have to be placed if you are champions. So if the Cajuns take care of business in Mobile, they would have been champions and the announcement could have been made after the game. I'm not saying anyone made the wrong decision to play in the NO Bowl, but to suggest that the Indy Bowl had nothing to offer is not entirely true since they were told we had no interest. Now, don't expect the Indy Bowl to offer UL anything in the near future because that is not how it works. We were upset a few years back because the Indy snubbed UL, well no one can say the call never came this time.
