Coach HUD would have loved to play a quality opponent in the I Bowl, this is not good for the administration to go against his wishes if true. This whole weekend could cost us our coach sooner than we think
OK. First post, so be kind!
I find it very hard to believe that we would just say "not interested" without knowing details. I have a feeling that these decisions all go through the conference office as well. I know Benson wants as many teams in bowls as possible. That's understandable. But the decision for us to go to New Orleans and only have 2 SBC teams in bowls is better than three teams all underperforming in attendance. I think our fans would go to Shreveport, but the unknows (weather, etc.) are a bit of a concern and our numbers would not equal New Orleans. Mobile would have been worse.
Bottom line is this: Arkansas State can only blame themselves. Why is it that the Independence Bowl would want the Cajuns and not them? It's not like they can't be invited. We lived this nightmare several times. Glad it's not us this time.
It may not be exactly what everyone wanted, but we need to show up BIG in NOLA. It's a business first. Show the world there is a demand for the product and more opportunities will arise.
Just my 2 cents. Geaux Cajuns!
Zee, you and I are both passionate cajun fans, and like I said-not fans of farmer, but whoever told you "all scott said was 'hello, who's this, sorry not interested, don't call here again'" is yanking your chain bro, step back and think about it for a second. I think if you look at the big picture, your "source" has it out for farmer. Look at things you can prove and there is enough not to stand behind the guy, we dont have to make things up to make him look worse.
Obviously there is 0 reading comprehension with message board readers. Point being made is our guy never even gave the I Bowl the time of day
If you guys think thats good business, so be it. Its not about our contract with CUSA, SunBelt or whether ACC wanted to play a SB school..
Its about not even listening to what I bowl has to say. Thats a problem.
Z
so who do bowl officials contact within the univ? they go straight to the top with T-Joe, or do they reach out to the athletic department first? is it the conference office first, then scott hung up on benson? if thats the case everyone would applaud because benson sucks balls. but the way we bend over for the conference i doubt seriously that he did that
