Louisiana’s Ragin’ Cajuns tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision to Samford University on Saturday. The loss puts the Cajuns at 1-4 on the season, while Samford moves to 2-5.
In singles action, the Cajuns had one win on the afternoon. Junior Jorge Delgado bested Brian Dushock 6-3, 6-2 at No. 5.
Sophomore Janusz Conradi fell to Jordan Delass 6-2, 6-4 at No. 1, while freshman teammate Piotr Olechowski dropped his match to Renan Silveira 2-6, 6-3, 2-6 at No. 2. Junior Arlen Domoney was defeated by Hank Grant 6-3, 6-2 at No. 3, and senior Ryan Hess was bested by Sam Huffman 6-0, 7-5 at No. 4. Newcomer Stefan Hawkins fell to Richard Walsh 6-4, 7-5 at the No. 6 position.
In doubles play, the Cajuns picked up a win at the No. 3 position after Domoney and Hawkins defeated Oliver Reynolds and Carl Abalos 8-5.
Conradi and Hess fell to Delass and Silveira 8-4 at No. 1, and Olechowski and Delgado were defeated by Grant and Huffman 8-4 at No. 2.
The Cajuns will next compete on Wednesday, Feb. 13 when they face Mississippi State in
Starkville, Miss. The match is set to begin at 1:00 p.m.
