One by one, UL's recruits sat down on Wednesday's national signing day and backed up their verbal commitments by signing a national letter of intent with the Ragin' Cajuns.

By the end of the day, their 2008 recruiting class featured two distinct flavors - a gumbo-like mix of talent from Louisiana and Florida.

Of UL's 23 signees, 11 hail from Louisiana, while eight others come from Florida. Three were from Texas, and one from Mississippi.

Florida native Jaron Odom - who signed with the Cajuns in February 2007, but sat out the fall semester as a grayshirt - showed off a bright smile when he discussed the incoming talent from his home state.

"We bring so much," said a smiling Odom, an offensive lineman who has already enrolled at UL this semester. "We're just going to try to win ballgames. This is a fun place to be.

"I'm just a piece of the puzzle."
