Your right, Bob will never agree with us. Even more of a reason not to be his ______ when he's around!

Then all Bob has to say is to normally disinterested third parties; "If they had a case don't you think they would be consistent when I'm around?" . . . "When I'm in town they change their name."

So basically we have two different philosophies here.

One is Churchillian : "We shall defend our island, whatever the cost may be, we shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender."

The other Clintonian: "What difference,at this point, does it make?"

This, if we try to tell everyone it's perfectly legal and nothing is wrong with calling ourselves Louisiana...then why change? You are admitting guilt in a way. If we can use the f'n title Louisiana then use the f'n title and stop being a puss about it

goes up there on Saturday, nothing will change. No battle will be own or lost. So it doesn't matter. Getting riled up about this is the pettiest thing I've ever seen out of this fan base.

People will spend all day trying to convince me that it matters and the usual suspects will skip that and go straight to the name calling. But it doesn't matter. It's just sideshow pettiness. Call me when an ESPN executive or AP editor finally changes his tune. Or call me when ULM agrees to lay off. Because that actually matters. That's the big picture.
I do agree that if the opponent were anyone other than ULM this action/inaction/retraction would go unnoticed and be irrelevant.

Question..WHY is the name change so important to you. after reading these comments, a person would think that some of you have absolutely NO lives to live except through your college days, like you OWN this team. You are the the Jerry Jones of the university. I have to laugh at the remarks made by some. Folks, the SCHOOL is the joke! As Turbine has attested to earlier, Martin Hall is the problem here. THEY (notice i didn't say WE) made the choice to go with the name change years ago. get over it. The name of the university is University of Louisiana Lafayette, not Louisiana. I know all about the branding, the nickname, etc. I get it. Why not spend time being positive instead of the infighting and just go with the flow? Do you REALLY think a name change will help with recuiting? with raising funds for XXX? with academics? grow up!

Do you always go by your full name?

You shouldn't have to and neither should a university. It is childish for anyone to think otherwise.

Louisiana is the schools first name, and name of choice.

I'm not getting into unnecessary delirious full usage examples. But in case you don't know what that means, even "McDonalds Corporation" doesn't live by their full name.

For those who do not understand....the official name of the University in Baton Rouge is NOT LSU or Louisiana State University. Both are acronyms. The name of that University is Louisiana State University and A&M College at Baton Rouge. Try putting that on a helmet. And don't come with that "Louisiana" denotes flagship status crap. There is not a designated flagship University in our System and show me the law that states only a Flagship University may use the States name as a acronym for said University.

It's funny to have someone "ranting" about not being positive and not going with the flow.

Just the other day Pasbon's friend called him on his cell and said, "Pasbon, some idiot is on I-10 driving in the wrong direction!". Pasbon yells back, "I'm on I-10... and everyone is driving in the wrong direction!"

Pasbon, we are talking about Martin Hall. "We" get it. "Louisiana Ragin Cajuns"... for the grown-ups.

Here's how a name makes a difference. You draw whatever you want from it...Long time TV station in Memphis, until recently had the call letters WPTY. The previous owners paid no attention to this small detail of what people call you. They went on their merry way to many shameful and neglected years of not paying attention to rating books, not investing in better people, equipment, facility, or branding. They drove a one time decent tv station to a last place finish in revenue and ratings. But, they still used WPTY. New owner comes in, pays a barging price for station as bottom is what is was worth...Enter a new GM, she goes out in the community and listens to business owners, community leaders, clients, etc. All of them, to a person, call the station "We PiTY" or Pity for short, some even went so far to use PiTYful. The station had been on the air for nearly 20 years and thats how folks in the community knew the station, not as an ABC affiliate, but by PiTY. New owners took it to heart, invested nearly 5 million dollars in a total rebuild of station. Most importantly, approval was given for new call letter, WAFT...We're ABC for Tennessee, the brand they use to now open newscasts etc and its how the public in general refers to them, AFT, or ABC Tennessee.

I could give you enough examples to bore you and everyone else on this board to death. The point is, you are known by your name/brand. Louisiana-Lafayette is not the name of the school, its a bastardized form of the legal name. I live outside of Louisiana. Its a F'n joke to explain to others who and what the school is. If I say Ragin Cajuns, they say...Oh, Louisiana Lafayette....Its not even F'n correct. Thanks to ESPN, AP, and others, confusion is running the show. I hate confusion, it just F's up everything. And since Martin Hall takes in tuition money and charges for people to come to sporting and academic events, just like buying a shirt at Cal's Western Store, We're customers of the University, they exist to serve the community....and right now, this community of die-hards aint being served.
BTW, I have a life...I'm a proud graduate of this school, I follow it from 800 miles away. And it ____es me OFF when the school we love gets pulled through the manure pile of mistakes that ESPN lays on us with each and every broadcast. So enjoy the big time bro, cause it ain't going to last for long if the school continues to ignore or at the very least pays lip service to what it should (to the advantage of everyone concerned) be called, branded, and remembered, as Louisiana!
