And that's great. But if we change all that up for this one game just because Monroe is in town, then our university leaders are chicken ____. Plain and simple.

If we're going to push the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns brand for athletics, then we should push it EVERY SINGLE game, meet and match. But if we're going to push it only when certain opponents are in town, then don't feed me any more branding talk.

Is there a better time than when you are on the same stage together?

This isn't homecoming but think about this; For homecoming it is ok to make signs that say cook the warhawks, pluck the birds, and make all kinds of derogatory statements about the opponent. . .

But somehow it is not ok to say your name? And since you are not going to say your own Name, you are going to get even and call them something they asked mot to be called? "Cajuns vs UL Monroe"

You are hiding and dragging the issue out indefinitely and disrespecting them at the same time.

"Big Picture", doesn't need to be the never ending story.

Quit telling everyone what to "focus on". You straddle more stray dogs on this forum than just about anyone. And this isn't a stray dog. This topic has been front and center for decades, and as of late it's been cranked up to full tilt. Saturday is the watershed moment for T-Joe and our administration. We made unprecedented decisions on how to navigate the official and the branding identity of our program.

To tell everyone, including the students and alumni, that we are to be referred to as the Louisiana Ragin Cajuns... a name we uniquely own... and to have an opponent that has attempted to slaughter our request in 50 different ways... be in our city... puffing up to us... challenging us to call ourselves what we call ourselves... and have the general back down in front of our troops... and theirs! That is a big deal! It is the watershed moment for this institution and athletic name.

If we don't stand up in our own yard... when and where are we going to make a stand? If we don't call ourselves Louisiana this Saturday, then we have a mouse as a president and we will never call ourselves Louisiana again. I know I will not. If T-Joe doesn't have the spine to put Louisiana... the name he allowed on that scoreboard over and over... this Saturday... of all Saturdays... the name of our school is ULL.

It's our big picture, Rebel. And when we get to the lower right hand corner to sign it... we decide what goes in the corner.

Are you only a rebel when you're "fighting" on our fan forum? I half expected to see some guy commandeer the scoreboard and PA system Saturday night... switch from "Cajuns" to "Louisiana"... and shout out, "We ARE Louisiana! And I AM THE Cajun Rebel!".

First of all, stop telling me I am being petty and I have never had a problem focusing on the big picture. I get what you are trying to say. Focus on what's important. To you, it's not the name thing, I get it. Other people feel differently, and that is ok for them.

You make me want to eat some of Z's free gumbo just so I can meet you and shake your hand.

Turbine, there will be one of two names up on the scoreboard on Saturday. Both names have been used in the past (without objection from any of you) and both names are completely appropriate.

But most importantly, no matter what name
goes up there on Saturday, nothing will change. No battle will be own or lost. So it doesn't matter. Getting riled up about this is the pettiest thing I've ever seen out of this fan base.

People will spend all day trying to convince me that it matters and the usual suspects will skip that and go straight to the name calling. But it doesn't matter. It's just sideshow pettiness. Call me when an ESPN executive or AP editor finally changes his tune. Or call me when ULM agrees to lay off. Because that actually matters. That's the big picture.

Your argument holds water if all this started in 1999 and there was zero history behind it. But, since 1984 is reality and what happened to us actually happened it means so much more than just the perfunctory obligation you give it. It's a battle for a name. And it means...everything.

To me the name is very important. But no, I don't care if they call us by our nickname on the marquee like they've done hundreds of times over the years.

Do me a favor, go up to an impartial co-worker or friend and tell him you're extremely upset because they used Cajuns on the marquee instead of Louisiana. Then report back to me if his answer is anything other than "so what?"

I'm not trying to be an a--. Just saying of all the things we should be worried about regarding the name issue, this is the very least of them. It makes no difference.

Your first sentence is very contradictory. Saying it is important but you don't care what shows up in lights is like saying you are confident your wife isn't cheating on you...but you are OK with someone writing on a wall that she is easy and give her a call. Little victories matter. Had we not been fighting for these little victories...we wouldn't have made the progress we have made so far...and the AP & ESPN wouldn't feel the need to "put us in our place". You know you are getting to someone when they go so far out of their way to ____ you off.

But how is it ever going to matter to anyone else if doesn't matter to us first?
