UL has been known as a deadend job for head coaches and Hud will be the first to change that view of our program. But can you please tell me who has left Miss State and went on to coach at a better program in the last 25 years? Coach Hud can go back to Starksville and win 7,8 or 9 games a season and make 2.5 mil or more a year and enjoy life. Or, he can wait for a job to open that gives him the resources to compete for a national championship.

Sabin rebuilt Alabama back into a national championship program, but he didn't have to beg for the resources and the Crimson Tide program had been national champions in recent past. Miss State does not have the resources to compete with the top SEC programs and it's been many years since its seen a national championship. I see Hud as a coach that wants to compete against the Myles and Sabins of the SEC on equal footing. That is not going to happen at Miss State.
I agree with you 100%. Hud is not leaving us for Miss State. Just don't want the fanbase of the program he brought back from the dead ranting that "he can't win there". With what he is done with us in these short 3 years, it is not unrealistic to think he can take any program anywhere he wants.

To answer your question, the same number of coaches that have left us for a better program. Zero. And Hud changed that. Don't underestimate the man we are trying to keep here.

With the new playoff system the Cajuns have a better probability of getting to the N.C. game than Miss St does. Cajuns keep winning, crack the top 25, keep winning the little ole SunBelt or CUSA (?) and slowly work your way into the top 10-15 in a few years. With the recruits that we're getting, the money that's starting to get pumped in here, and the competition that we play....that's the perfect remedy for a BCS buster. Miss St. will not win the SEC, nor will they work their way into a Top 10. The SEC is too talented to allow the cow bells to do any damage. They are a 3 loss team each year at best. This Cajun program, along with the current staff and influx of highly touted recruits, can and will consistently win 10+ games a year. This is the Boise, Fresno St, Louisville, way.....

Cajuns have the better opportunity IMO

Never will! He has already proven me wrong on several ocassions. But I can tell you, I was on the Hudspeth bandwagon before he was hired when others were talking Orgeron or Deforest.

    To elaborate a little more...............

We are setting ourselves up perfectly. I we win out and win our bowl game, in my opinion we will be ranked 23rd-25th to start 2014 season. Our schedule plays out perfectly next year with the potential to beat both Boise St and Ole Miss. Ideally, we lose one or both and go 10-2 or 11-2 (with bowl win). The formula is to start the season off as high as we can and crush our "weak" competition en-route to 10+ win seasons ultimately climbing the Top 25 ladder one rung at a time each year.

This of course is all in a "Perfect World" scenario, but is very realistic with the way we are recruiting and building...
