Just curious did Hud ever say Mississippi State is his dream job or is this all speculation because he from the area? I do not know the answer and it is just a question please do not read anything else into the post.

I didn't compare ULM to MSU. ULM has a better chance of winning the sunbelt than MSU has of winning the west division much less the SEC. Comparing ULM to UL is like comparing MSU to bama, lsu, texas a &m auburn, Georgia Florida. The gaps are actually way larger between those programs than the gap between us and ULM. So if he would turn down ULM for that reason, why would he take MSU. You would be playing for 3rd and 4th place in the west division on your best years.

Hud said he grew up a Miss State fan, he never said it was his dream job. Never heard it from him.

IMO if it was his "dream job" he wouldn't have left after 2 years.

We can agree to disagree but playing for 3rd and 4th in the SEC with the possibility of catching lightning in a bottle and winning the SEC (and by default playing in the national championship) is a world of difference from playing for 1st or 2nd in the Sunbelt. At 9-4 in 2010, they finished at #15. Go 12-0 at ULM and they aren't in the top 25. You can't compare the two scenarios at all.

Again, I do not think he will leave us for MSU. Like CajunT said, we will have to eff up for him to leave us for them. I am simply stating that if he is offered the job, he will not say to himself "I can't win there so I'm not even considering it".

CajunRage makes the most sense out of anyone. I've said it for the past 3 years... something tells me HUD will stay here for a long time.. not forever... but I don't see this guy jumping ship after 3 or 4 years of success. AFter 8 years of success and making this program a Top 25 team, maybe. But I have faith in HUD and I don't see him screwing us over by leaving so soon. I truly believe him when he says he wants to build this program to new heights... the only way we get there, is with him at the helm.

And where did 9-4 get them? Where did #15 get them? 5th place in the west division.
Tied for 7th overall and that was them catching lightning in a bottle.

If Hud is the coach of MSU next year it is my prediction that Elijah McGuire will transfer and be redshirted at MSU next year with 3 left to play. (Geaux Dogs beat Rebels)
    Nope...Mullen going nowhere

First off, they lost to Auburn by 3 and lost to Arkansas in 2OT. So lightening in a bottle would have gotten them at least 11-2. They lost to LSU and Bama. Yes, that is 3rd in the west. You think in HUD's mind, he isn't thinking he could get over that hump?

Either you don't understand what I'm saying or you're too hard headed to accept it. MSU is in the SEC. Will they compete for the SEC/National Championship every year? Not in it's current state. But it is not out of the realm of possibility. We weren't talking about top 25 in year 3 down here in Lafayette either.

Whatever dude, now you are reaching here, talking about close losses and shoulda couldas. What have they done since? What have they done in 20 years. To me if you look at what someone does for 20 years then somewhere in the middle is a 1 year spike up then you go back to sucking ___, that would be considered lightning in a bottle. MSU is a have not playing in a have league. Just bc I don't agree with you doesn't make me hard headed...maybe you are just dumb

I understand that Hud thinks he can win at any program, and he could win at Miss State in the realm of 8-4 seasons and the ocassional 9-3 season. But I don't equate wanting to build his resume at a bad FBS program in Lafayette with wanting to win a national championship at Miss State. UL has been known as a deadend job for head coaches and Hud will be the first to change that view of our program. But can you please tell me who has left Miss State and went on to coach at a better program in the last 25 years? Coach Hud can go back to Starksville and win 7,8 or 9 games a season and make 2.5 mil or more a year and enjoy life. Or, he can wait for a job to open that gives him the resources to compete for a national championship.

Sabin rebuilt Alabama back into a national championship program, but he didn't have to beg for the resources and the Crimson Tide program had been national champions in recent past. Miss State does not have the resources to compete with the top SEC programs and it's been many years since its seen a national championship. I see Hud as a coach that wants to compete against the Myles and Sabins of the SEC on equal footing. That is not going to happen at Miss State.
